Barack Takes Political High Road Regarding Cuba - To The Dismay Of Old Cuban Geezers Who Need To Let It Go
Accordingly, I will grant Cuban Americans unrestricted rights to visit family and send remittances to the island...
Accordingly, I will use aggressive and principled diplomacy (talk) to send an important message: If a post-Fidel government begins opening Cuba to democratic change, the United States (the president working with Congress) is prepared to take steps to normalize relations and ease the embargo that has governed relations between our countries for the last five decades.
The Cuban-Americans didn't appreciate that and let him know it today.
"The first time Osama Bin Laden heard the term "Al Qaeda" used, was on television. "
Increasingly in American one is not called anti-Semitic when one hates Jews. One is called anti-Semitic when some Jews hate you. It's amazing how Louis Farrakhan has been reduced to a Hitler like figure who has done nothing but attack Jews without reason.
Obama is a prophet. God is obviously on his side. I hope there is a method to his madness, but last night he faced the Jewish Media machine, stuck his tail between his legs and engaged in a pro-Israel ass kissing contest with Hillary.
When is someone going to be asked to repudiate or denounce Skooter Libby, Richard Perle or Paul Wolfowitz? They are responsible for the deaths of thousands, Farrakhan has simply stood up to Abe Foxman.

Machines will achieve human-level artificial intelligence by 2029, a leading US inventor has predicted.
Humanity is on the brink of advances that will see tiny robots implanted in people's brains to make them more intelligent, said Ray Kurzweil.
The engineer believes machines and humans will eventually merge through devices implanted in the body to boost intelligence and health.
Machines were already doing hundreds of things humans used to do, at human levels of intelligence or better, in many different areas, he said.
Man versus machine
"I've made the case that we will have both the hardware and the software to achieve human level artificial intelligence with the broad suppleness of human intelligence including our emotional intelligence by 2029," he said.
Humans and machines would eventually merge, by means of devices embedded in people's bodies and brains to improve their intelligence, predicted Mr Kurzweil.
"We're already a human machine civilisation; we use our technology to expand our physical and mental horizons and this will be a further extension of that."

“I think there is a strain within the pro-Israel community that says unless you adopt a unwavering pro-Likud approach to Israel that you’re anti-Israel and that can’t be the measure of our friendship with Israel. If we cannot have an honest dialogue about how do we achieve these goals, then we’re not going to make progress.”
He said even more about the confined nature of the debate over Israel and its security in this country, according to the dispatch in the Jewish Telegraph Agency (JTA). Apparently in defense of his consultations with Zbigniew Brzezinski, who has been harshly critical of neo-conservative influence in the Bush administration, Obama said:
“Frankly some of the commentary that I’ve seen which suggests guilt by association or the notion that unless we are never ever going to ask any difficult questions about how we move peace forward or secure Israel that is non military or non belligerent or doesn’t talk about just crushing the opposition that that somehow is being soft or anti-Israel, I think we’re going to have problems moving forward."

Farrakhan compared Obama to the religion's founder, Fard Muhammad, who also had a white mother and black father.
"A black man with a white mother became a savior to us," he told the crowd of mostly followers dressed in Nation of Islam attire including long white suits and matching head scarfs for women and navy-colored uniforms with caps for men. "A black man with a white mother could turn out to be one who can lift America from her fall."

A man’s relationship with his woman should resemble God’s relationship with that man. God knows you inside and out, yet He still loves you. Just think of how loving He is: His patience, His kindness, His guidance, His forgiveness, His grace and mercy… Now keep that thought ever before you and show it to your woman!
A man’s duty in a relationship is to study his woman… not to find fault in her, but to learn how to love her. You can always tell how much a man loves a woman by what he knows about her. As you comprehend how she moves: how she walks, how she talks, how she thinks and how she feels… you also learn to anticipate where she will be once her movement has ceased. That is where your posture, position, protection and provisions are ready and able to accurately guide her to her next destination.
Your guidance must be gentle, not harsh; subtle and unassuming, as if she’s doing it on her own. In taking this approach you will help to give her a sense of accomplishment which is healthy food for her ego. This, however, can prove to be very difficult for you. There’s usually not an immediate show of appreciation for all the “behind the scenes work” that you’ve done. Don’t worry, in due time her appreciation will spring forth like a tree at harvest time, supplying you with the same healthy food that you once nourished her ego with. Seeing her prosper and flourish will be your reward. Her sense of accomplishment becomes your sense of accomplishment. Her joy and excitement of life becomes your joy and excitement of life. At the end of the day, whether or not she recognizes your work, you will know deep within your own heart that you are willing to go through hell to give her a glimpse of heaven. This is Love!

A Manhattan senior celebrated his 72nd birthday by trying to smuggle what cops say was more than $1 million in marijuana down the East Coast - and almost got away with it.
But the alleged elderly drug mule, Rodell Cole, got busted in the parking lot of a Maryland 7-Eleven after getting into a fender-bender and trying to haul out the pot in front of a cop.
"It was stupid," Cole, a retired city painter, told the Daily News in a jailhouse interview. "I wasn't thinking it through. I've never been a hustler. I get Social Security. I get a pension from the City of New York."
Cole was taking a mindblowing 146.6 pounds of marijuana down South when he stopped for a coffee break at the New Carrollton, Md., convenience store, police said.
A cop who happened to be in the parking lot watched Cole back his silver Toyota Camry into a car, police said. After a routine check, cops found the Spanish Harlem man was driving with a suspended South Carolina license.
Cole was charged with several drug offenses, including possession with intent to distribute and possession of a controlled dangerous substance. His bail was set at $1 million.
He said he had simply cut a deal with a guy from his neighborhood to drive the car down to the Carolinas, he claimed. "They said no questions asked, $500," Cole, who suffers from cataracts, told The News. "It was just a chance to make a couple of dollars."

I may be amplifying these gestures and wandering from my background in emergency medicine into psychoanalysis but I think these were acts of concession. As I said previously, Clinton had a Gettysburg moment in Virginia. On March 4 Texas will become her Appomattox.
Isn't it typical of people like Hilary to call what they deem as "challenges" in their lives and place it smack dab in the center of the universe for all of us to take seriously?
a Challenege? What, you had a cheating husband who didn't give you AIDS
Your daughter has gone to the best schools that other parents can only dream of sending their kids to - yeah, they dream about it because dreams are ALL they have
Due to your current position of POWER, you along with other members of the senate voted to invade and occupy Iraq where I do believe WOMEN were blown up via carpet bombs along with Saddam soldiers - Hey, sisterhood is powerful, especially if you are white and have the power to vote for a military solution.
Yeah, what challenges you have been through, Hilary. Snif.

Gorgeous. Simply beautiful. There aren't too many miracles more breathtaking than new life.
My youngest is 8. My other son is 15. I'm past baby bearing, (and made sure at age 28).
But I have fond memories of pregnancy (and sometimes secretly wish I had another turn coming).

They are feeling some kind of crazy pressure. Last Friday, about 25 of them held an hour-long conference call to discuss what one described as an effort to "pester, intimidate, question our blackness" for not supporting Obama.
The catalyst for the call was a report in the New York Times that Rep. John Lewis (D-Ga.) was wavering in his support of Clinton. Lewis would not comment, but according to the Times, the congressman had indicated he was prepared to fully flip and back Obama and thus be more in step with his congressional district, which voted 3-to-1 for Obama on Super Tuesday. This bit of news was extremely significant, for Lewis is one of the coveted "superdelegates," those 796 elected officials and party insiders who are not bound by anything that has or will happen at the polls. They are free to choose the candidate of their liking, as unpledged delegates to the national convention. And with the nomination fight so razor-close, they are being wooed -- some say harassed -- like never before.
Lewis's office tried to put the brakes on the notion that a switch of allegiance to Obama was imminent. But too late. Some of Clinton's other black supporters decided to rally and try to blunt the fallout. Among those on the conference call were Trenton Mayor Doug Palmer, former Denver mayor Wellington Webb, and congresswomen Sheila Jackson Lee of Texas and Stephanie Tubbs Jones of Ohio.

Is it conceivable that Al Qaeda, as defined by President Bush as the center of a vast and well-organized international terrorist conspiracy, does not exist?
To even raise the question amid all the officially inspired hysteria is heretical, especially in the context of the US media's supine acceptance of Administration claims relating to national security. Yet a brilliant new BBC film produced by one of Britain's leading documentary filmmakers systematically challenges this and many other accepted articles of faith in the so-called war on terror.
The Power of Nightmares: The Rise of the Politics of Fear, a three-hour historical film by Adam Curtis recently aired by the British Broadcasting Corp., argues coherently that much of what we have been told about the threat of international terrorism "is a fantasy that has been exaggerated and distorted by politicians. It is a dark illusion that has spread unquestioned through governments around the world, the security services and the international media."

Confusion erupted Thursday night amid reports that a prominent African American supporter of Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton's had changed his mind. Georgia Rep. John Lewis, who is also a Democratic superdelegate, was reported by the New York Times as having decided to switch his superdelegate vote from Clinton to Sen. Barack Obama after Lewis's district, around Atlanta, went for the Illinois senator.
But the Clinton campaign reported having no word from Lewis on the subject, and a spokeswoman for Lewis, Brenda Jones, said the Times story and a similar one by the Associated Press, saying he was contemplating such a switch, were inaccurate. Both the Times and AP stories quoted Lewis directly after speaking with him; he was not available for comment later Thursday. The Obama campaign also said that Lewis and Obama had not talked recently about a change of heart.
"It is plain there is a lot of enthusiasm for Barack Obama," Jones said. But, she said, "those things are observations," not statements of preference. She said Lewis has left the option of changing his superdelegate support for Clinton on the table, but made no decisions. Still, it is clear that Lewis has had misgivings about the Clinton campaign in recent weeks, especially after the racially charged campaign in South Carolina, during which former Pres. Bill Clinton was perceived to have made racially insensitive comments.
Another black superdelegate from Georgia, Rep David Scott, was also reported by the A.P. as having said he would switch from Clinton to Obama; a call to his chief of staff went unreturned Thursday night.

Baseball pitching great Roger Clemens and his former trainer, Brian McNamee, clashed under oath at a congressional hearing on Wednesday over McNamee's claims he injected Clemens with illegal performance-enhancing drugs.
Sitting together at a witness table but avoiding eye contact, Clemens again denied ever taking such substances and McNamee insisted he did -- while lawmakers questioned the veracity of both men.
At the start of a packed hearing, Clemens was confronted with a sworn statement by former teammate and longtime friend Andy Pettitte that Clemens told him in 1999 or 2000 that he had used human growth hormone.
"I think he misremembers ... our conversation," Clemens told the House of Representatives Oversight and Government Reform Committee.

She was referring to a remark from MSNBC’s David Shuster, who questioned on Thursday whether Chelsea was “sort of being pimped out in some weird sort of way” by the campaign because she was making calls to voters and giving speeches advocating for her mother.
MSNBC said in a statement on Friday that Shuster had apologized to the Clintons on-air for the remark and was suspended from broadcasts except to make the apology, but Clinton suggested in her letter to MSNBC that the cable network should go further to make amends.
“Nothing justifies the kind of debasing language that David Shuster used and no temporary suspension or half-hearted apology is sufficient,” she said in the letter.

The successes come just as Mr. Obama is enjoying a strong advantage over Mrs. Clinton in raising money. Still, the results were expected to do little to settle the muddle in the delegate race that resulted after the wave of contests last Tuesday in which the two candidates split up states from coast to coast.
In Republican contests on Saturday, Mike Huckabee won in Kansas, an embarrassing setback to Senator John McCain as he tries to rally the party around him as the nominee.
While Mr. Obama had been expected to win the contests on Saturday, the margin of victories were surprising, particularly in Washington, a predominately white state where he captured 57 percent of the vote in caucus voting compared to Mrs. Clinton’s 31 percent. And in Nebraska, which also held caucuses, he received an impressive 68 percent of the vote to Mrs. Clinton’s 32 percent.
“Today, voters from the West Coast, the Gulf Coast and the heart of America are joining the chorus of Americans who are choosing change over more of the same failed politics in Washington. They see in Barack Obama the best chance to beat John McCain in the fall, unite our country, take on the special interests, and confront the challenges facing working families,” said Obama campaign manager David Plouffe.

KIRKWOOD, Missouri - A gunman killed five people and wounded two Thursday night at a police station and City Council meeting in suburban St. Louis before officers shot and killed him, police said.
Charles Lee Thornton, here in an undated photo, was identified by witnesses as the gunman who opened fire. Two police officers were among the dead, said Tracy Panus, spokeswoman for the St. Louis County police.
Witnesses identified the gunman as Charles Lee "Cookie" Thornton, a man who they said regularly disrupted meetings to make complaints, though he didn't make it clear what his concerns were. Police have not identified the suspect. No one has made an official statement on Thornton's behalf, but his brother said Thornton "went to war tonight with the people that were of the government."
