Obama, Jackson and Jena

Yesterday The State, a newspaper in Columbia, S.C., reported that Jesse Jackson “sharply criticized presidential hopeful and Illinois Sen. Barack Obama for ‘acting like he’s white’ in what Jackson said has been a tepid response to six black juveniles’ arrest on attempted-murder charges in Jena, La.”

Jackson, in an apparent effort to clarify matters, has muddied them further: “Jackson later told the newspaper he did not remember making the ‘acting like he’s white’ comment about Obama, who is black. On Wednesday, the civil rights activist said in a statement that he was ‘taken out of context.’ … The newspaper’s deputy managing editor, Steve Brook, said the newspaper was standing by its story.”

UPDATE: Now Fox News and other media outlets are putting out an article that will be published in hundreds of newspapers that starts off, “Jesse Jackson reportedly ripped presidential candidate Barack Obama for “acting like he’s white.” The media are twisting people’s words to create racial controversies. This isn’t the first time they’ve done this either.

don't be the FOX news of the blog world DV.

People take a washed up Politician/Religious crank like J.Jackson seriously ?

Now if its true he is entitled to say whatever his brain puts out.

Revealing though. Yes it sounds like the next in line story after OJ`s girlfriend, and her looking like the other gal/wife that he might of killed, and what that means.

By the way is Obama Black ?
How about Tiger Woods ?
What about Halle B. ?

Oh and who decides things like that, and is the whole thing a false issue ?

Fox sucks, but then they all do, including the darlings of the left Amy Goodman and her retarded host.

"don't be the FOX news of the blog world DV." Jasai

Jasai. Stop. Pause. Scroll. Think.

Look around. Up and down. Peep the archives.

You know a place that exercises more mass media skepticism than here, link us to it.

You think I'm covering Jackson. I'm covering the coverage of Jackson.

I cover the manufacture of consent whether it's used to attack a washed up relic of the civil rights movement, 50 Cent or Marcus Garvey.

Compare Fox's coverage of Darfur to what you see here.

How you even dare to fix your mouth to say something crazy like that is beyond me.

I really like Barack, and I think he would be a great leader had he not chosen the elective office route. As an elected, he has to be coy and tentative with black folks. He should come and hug Jesse in front of the cameras.

i'm glad to know you're covering the "coverage". That wasn't clear to me. It read like you were covering the controversy.

no need to be sensitive, just clear.

If indeed Jesse said that, then he needs to shut up. What exactly is acting white? and who determines that?
