Hip Hop - Dubois' Talented Tenth. What A Surprise.

1. Jay-Z $34 million
2. 50 Cent $32 million
3. Diddy $28 million
4. Timbaland $21 million
5. Dr. Dre $20 million
6. Eminem $18 million
7. Snoop $17 million
8. Kanye West $17 million
9. Pharrell $17 million
10. Scott Storch $17 million
Forbes Top Money List - Lea Goldman

So. The most talented business savvy black leaders and entrepreneurs blazing paths of financial freedom and setting examples of economic empowerment turned out to be former drug dealers and street hustlers, while the products of integrated schools and recipients of Ivy League educations have become glorified employees completely disconnected from their own people, languishing on corporate plantations.

Go figure.

Nah, Casper. No groupie.

But I damn sure aint no punk ass jealous bitchy hater sitting around inventing reasons to hate other black men.

"dey cawz all de pwoblems!"

BTW. Stop flashing your little fake Ghetto Pass. So what? You live in the hood.

Congratulations.

What does that prove other than you didn't have enough hustle to get out? Oh. That's right. You "mentoring" the young cats. You trying to give back. Teaching the young brothas how they can end up in the same place when they turn 40, just like you.

And Plantation Negros wonder why kids don't listen to them.

"Cuz de wappers tell dem ta sell dwugs and call bitches ho's!"

"Be like Opwah! Not Jigga!"

Hilarious...
Yah the 60's civil rights generation better get hip to this and try to build bridges and understanding...in a minute Al Sharpton may need Jay Z to fund a loan for him...

Ohhhh ... so you work for Goldberg Silverstein and Cohen because you love it.

"I could coon and make more chips, too."

What is remotely coonish about Jay-Z?

Big J,

Everything you accuse these cats of could be applied to you.

Are you sure your hang up against rap is not in the least bit - a simple case of jealousy?

Actually, I don't. I have no idea what you are talking about Casper.

Elaborate brotha.

No. No. Let me guess.

"Deez blayk menz make money by sellin POYZUN to da blayk CoMoonity. Dey Cawz drugs and Dey Cawz Viyolance.

Da Whyte Mans Mooveez and TV Shows iz 100% Wholesum!"

LOL.

Black men with these self-imposed double standards crack me up.

Casper and Big J call these brothas "Coons" while they walk around white men Hat n Hand.

I don't get it.

LOL at DV...

Oh so true...at this point these brothas have got the net worth to say whateva the heck they want to say to whoever they want to...

Because my paycheck depends on commission and
"maykin muney fo' massa"..(couldn't resist that one DV...lol)
unfortunately I don't have that luxury...

They have an amazing platform to motivate and uplift...no doubt your average kid relates more to these rappers then us would be bourgeouisie in suits.

I was just tellin a friend of mine that Jay Z should do some motivational speaking around the country to black youth...he is a definite inspiration in terms of focus, hardworking and determination.

From the Marcy Projects to $34 million and being President of Def Jam before hitting 40...I say that is inspiriational and impressive.

You dead on the money Sista Soteria,

Our corporate friends mistake any applauding of these young brothas as a blind stamp of approval of them as people.

Which it is not. We don't know these men personally.

I'm applauding their strategy, tactics, execution, range, hustle and results.

I am comparing them Toe to Toe with their Corporate Negro Critics.

You want to call them niggers and sellouts? Because what? They have the chutzpah to play the game the same way everyone else plays it?

Why? Because they don't stay in their place like Little Negro Democrats?

These Corporate Negro Critics who claim rappers "glorify violence" will sit in the front row at the Omniplex watching Matt Damon shoot and beat up 200 bad guys in a 110 minute movie.

Anything taken in isolation is damnable. Corporate Negro Critics, employ the tactics of O'Reilly by picking an isolated lyric, harping on it, attempting to define their target by it.

When forced to acknowledge the tremendous BUSINESS success of these Hip Hop brothas, the Corporate Negro Critic hits us with the funny one(high pitch bitchy voice) "But, Is money everything?"

Instant Communist.

The money is symbolic. It's a way of keeping score. These Hip Hop brothas know it's the only thing conformist Americans respond to, so they give it to them.

This country worships money. Even our corporate do-gooders.

Jay-Z already gives motivational speeches to kids, sista Soteria.

He sells it to them on CD.

If he was trying to do it for free, they wouldn't respect him.

He knows what he's doing.

So you have 9 artist/brothers out of millions of wannabees who have made some paper entertaining people. Not demanding political change entertaining. So what now I am suppose to have my kids idolize them. No I will have them idolize Jim Brown. You know what I am happy they made it. But at the end of the day it only matter's how you got there and what you do with it! God blessed them ..Now how will they show their appreciation to God and God's people.

Sure Casper.

Oprah's made a lot of money playing the "I feel your pain" alter-ego for middle-aged white women.

Politically, she's a "0".

Hip Hop frames the political imaginations of young people all over the world.

No, not that corporate reality TV show Democrats v Republican nonsense most American conformists associate with politics. But the philosophical foundation of young people, black and white, is Hip Hop. They grew up on MTV and BET.

Tupac's death was as traumatic to a 30 year old as MLK's death was to a 60 year old.

Aint nobody under 30 thinking about Oprah.

Except maybe you.

OK, Anyonymous.

Read it.

It strikes me as another intellectually lightweight failure to define what "Hip Hop Should Be".

Hip Hop has frustrated NeoLiberal goody two-shoes from the beginning. They hoped to co-op Hip Hop to make it what they wanted it to be, as opposed to allowing Hip Hop to find it's own way.

What did you get out of it?

"Who cares?

Because I care... I care about more than just myself DV. That's the difference between us. It's not all about me. There is more to my existance then my personal satisfaction. I care if negative sterotypes are repeatedly broadcasted using sellout brotha's and distributed by white male run corporations. The values of guns, drugs and thuggin is not productive for our people no matter how many millions a few (1%)like fiddy profit from it. So if you thought highly of yourself and your people you would not tolerate the bullshit! Keep it Real!

No... DV I chose to live in Harlem. My Brownestone is probably worth twice than your Bel Air apartment. But the real difference is that you don't mind if young brothers line up for prison versus getting an education and maybe starting their own legit business. Because more brother's in suits is more competition for you to handle. So your in the white man's camp of "dumb down" brothers. Yes Chuck D speaks of brothers and fearful white men like you.
