Chief Keef Leads 17 Million In War Against Bitch Niggas & Snitch Niggas • Advanced Memetic Counterinsurgency • DV University • Fall 2012

Old. Not yet. Invested in reality? Yes. Never forget that Mantan Moreland was popular too. There were black people who double corked up, pretending to be white men who were playing the minstrel role to get paid by denegrating the race.

I am in Chicago. I have volunteered with these young brothers. I watch, listen, and talk to them on the CTA.

They believe this Chief Keef hyper thug drama is real. As someone said in the Chicago Reader, if you don't understand that the "music" and beef between these drill rappers is a gang war put to music--and on Twitter, Facebook, etc,--you are missing what is really going on.

We know better. These young ign'ts do not.

Art should not be trumped by politics; that does not mean that we should retreat from a rigorous analysis of what is actually going on.

The Respectable Negro, him say; I was on a panel over the summer and I described current commercial hip hop as what happens when you have 40 year old men making music for 12 year olds. I stand by that observation.

What a shame.

Someone should have taught little Joe not to say he "F#*#& Chief Keef's Mother?"

I was raised by people who taught shit like that could get a man killed.

That's why few people say shit like that.

Constructive ... I guess you think it's best 'duh Guvamint' intervene huh?

Duh powlice should come and just Lock ol' Chief Keef up huh?

Prison.

The rest of his life.

No chance of parole.

THAT would make us all much safer huh?

I think it's cheaper, and safer, and easier and more civilized to teach young men not to say they "F#*#& Chief Keef's Mother?" "

Clap. Clap. Clap.

You did it again, DV. Mention a rapper with controversial lyrics and watch as your average reader reflexively condemns him. It's like watching moths fly into a porch light.

"Did they really just do that...again?"

I dunno if it's because I've already been familiar with all the artists you cite, or because I was raised on gangsta shit (Project Pat, Yo Gotti, Pastor Troy, Lil Jon, etc)--but I don't really see your comments or analysis in such a bizarre fashion as some of my fellow bloggers here.

I just wonder if you really believe this stuff you say, or if you just say it for shock value. I dunno, I'm just trying to picture a brotha who I imagine is at least 40 with young children riding around bumping...Chief Keef.

I'm not a fan of judgment, but posts like this remind me of a famous line in hip hop...

"You sound real good and you play the part well, but the energy you givin off is so unfamiliar...I don't feel ya."

50 Cent downplayed Keef’s connection to the murder of Lil JoJo, who was murdered last week.

JoJo had a public feud with Keef and his crewmate Lil Reese; Keef scoffed at the death on his Twitter page, though he later said he was hacked.

50 said that in a city as violent as Chicago, it’s premature to blame Keef or Reese.

"Chicago had 158 homicides this summer; 38 of them was teens," 50 explained. "So they gotta go through an investigation to make sure that that’s actually someone affiliated with Chief Keef; you can’t just put that on ’em because [JoJo] made a diss song and he out there. If he's out there and he’s active, and you saw all those guns the boys had in that video, it shows that it’s an actual part of their culture."

Brother DV - you too often fail once your theories are put into PRACTICAL APPLICATION.

Your argument makes the case that a person speaking "Foul Words" should be conscious of all of the results and ramification of his actions.
INDEED.

At the same time, Brother DV - there is an incumbent requirements of the WOULD BE KILLER to assess the DAMAGE DONE by WORDS, as he asks if a BLACK MAN'S LIFE or the "Indescretions Of A 16 Year Old Black Man" who talked about YOUR MOMMA is worth snatching away the other 70 years of his life. DV the KILLER did not afford Lil Jo Jo the opportunity to GROW OUT OF his period of "frontal lobe development" and see that it was not worth it.

INSTEAD his FRONTAL LOBE WAS BLOWN OUT OF HIS HEAD.

WHY is it that as a society we can ask the CAPITAL PUNISHER to consider the state of brain development of a young "killer". YET you push the notion that this same 16 year old so understand the full impact of his words?

What should the key influences within the community say when the GUN PLAY and PROVOCATION among these "Hip Hop Voice Of The Street Pirates" give strong hint that a "Ninja Is Gonna Get Kilt" as those gun are not stage props.

Sharif Ali ☪ ✡ said...

The track was hot as far as the production and his delivery. Obviously he didn't need a record label to come rescue him from the hood, he got a team together and they established themselves. That's wassup.

As far as the content, there is a time and place for it. I might bump something like that or 3-6 Mafia maybe before I get out on the basketball court or something like that.

I used to live in Memphis so I can relate... On the other hand I am 32 years old, with a wife and four children. I travel and get money and to keep it all the way real I'm not worried about what niggas are doing in the hood at all. I'm on some other shit but I could still listen to that type of music from a detached state.

I'm so far from living that lifestyle. When I live in Florida we used to see older white dudes riding Benzes and BMWs bumping Jay-Z, lol. It's just entertainment to them.

The children who are listening to this mess and get caught up have a bigger problem than the music. They need real parents, guidance, and self esteem. If they have this growing up it won't matter what this dude or anyone else is rapping about b/c they will have the foundation to succeed. Like when your parents used to ask you if you are gonna jump off the bridge b/c all your friends are doing it. If you go for the peer pressure you are weak period.

Niggas are setting themselves & their children up to fail. Can't blame it on the music. Who cares what this dude is rapping about? It's not going to make me go kill a nigga. Stop making excuses for these clowns who are dumb enough to get caught up. Only the strong survive!

OF COURSE you will say - The evidence of a video where young Black males are seen flaunting their Mac-10s and AK47s is little different than the average movie by Stalone, Arnold or Bruce.

The key difference is that the TAUNTING in this "Art Imitating Life Imitating Art" turned DEADLY.

The same Black people (not you) who get OFFENDED when a White person makes a threat by TWITTER against President Obama - seem lulled into a state of complicit passiveness when these messages about violent taunt and gunplay are blasted into their community.

FOR ME - this just shows how FRAUDULENT THE BLACK COMMUNITY'S ATTACHMENT TO POLITICS has become.

Believe it or not that is the game.

Not a certain breed of Hip Hop artists...

...ALL young black men are threatening to the law makers that count.

The use of Hip Hop to sell the useless existence of young black men is the same tactic employed by media to zero in on a few faces in the east of backwards extremists.

Yes, rap is needed to sale those tough laws to fight crime. I would not be surprised if record companies are connected to the law makers. Every-corporate-body wins.

The other side is that Negroes like Keef don't want to escape the plantation. Instead of mapping an escape route to Seminole land or stabbing a few hound dogs at night and dumping their bodies, they rather stay on the plantation and sneak into Massa John's cache to snatch a few bottles of spirits and some meat shavings from the smoke house. Getting niggas killed over stupid ish, thinking they getting over and living on the top.

@ Ali & DV

I agree abou his delivery. Not that he has jaw dropping lyrics but it accomplishes what it's meant to accomplish. The way he mouths sound effects is funny.

I know he hasn't start making purchases yet but it shows raw talent can exist without the excessive stage props like jewelery, butt naked women etc. Exposes a crack in the phantom demographic everybody is supposedly serving.

The movement in rap to call out "snitches" is interesting.

Who are these snitches? Are they the same as the proverbial sucka duck mc's from back in the day, the unseen MC nemesis or archrival?

Is the "snitch" allegorical. Not really a person but to signify the one being snitched on is caught up in snitch worthy illegal activity? So the antithesis to the snitch is the thug, the hustler? For every thug somewhere lurks a snitch, for every black there lurks a racist etc.

Is this supposed to be some kind of qualification on your behalf? What do you mean by "volunteer" - you volunteer to slang on the corners pro bono?

What can you do or "volunteer" for cats making $10,000/week on their block?

What can you do or say to cats with glock 23s and Polish-built AK-74s who have to kill or be killed to exist in their environment?

You say Chief Keef is "hyper thug"? Saying what he don't like and he going for his is "hyper thug"? I would say Spice 1 or the Ghetto Boys is "hyper thug" but this Keef cat ain't saying anything hyper thug?

What part of Chicago you from anyway, Elmhurst?

chaunceydevega said...

@ed. they aren't making 10,000 a week on the block. those low level corner boys are making mcdonald's money for the most part. maybe the folks on the very top are getting paid like that, but the ign't weed carriers. nope. i suspect you know that too. the mid level guys are not making that much either.

i have nothing to offer them. i don't think they can be helped and should be summarily dealt with for the most part. they are the human wood for the prison industrial complex and are going to be processed as such. i care about the vast majority of decent people who are dragooned by those highwaymen.

The chief keefs and anyone like him should be put on TV in a hyper ghetto thug version of the Hunger Games or Battle Royale. I would pay money to see that btw.

Come now. running around talking about killing folks, his various interviews online, video, and in the music press, profiling with his "boys" while on home arrest with guns and such. dude is popular precisely because of his adolescent thuggery and connection to local gangs. When you ask that question, i.e. is he a "thug" I must think you are pretending and being playful.

My question is always a simple one: would you want to live next to Chief Keef? Would you want him in your house as a guest? Would you let your daughter (or son...who knows?) date him? Would you want the Chief Keefs of the world as your neighbors?

If you say yes to any of those questions you can have him all to yourself.

@Chauncey,

I'm from the West Side of Chicago, if you look at Google Maps you will see alongside I-280 parallel major streets like Madison, Roosevelt, Harrison and so on. That means the suburbanites are pulling off I-280, buy their goods and drive right back on I-280. Yes, they are pulling in 10,000 a week, at least because they selling to a large base.

However, I will agree if you are talking about Chicago in general, they are not making the kind of money I-95, I-80, or Highway 101 routes are doing. Considering places like the South Side of Chicago, it is competitive and as a result more violent.

But to say that a rapper Chief Keef
created this culture or is a hyper thug representation of that culture is pretty much exaggeration. You are not going to sit there and tell us that a rapper Young Jeezey was more influential than Big Meech or a rapper Chief Keef was more influential than Larry Hoover - that's not being honest.

So let's get to the real crux of what the issue with Chief Keef is about which is what I realize when the Sun-Times started attacking him. Cats in Chicago tend to get jealous and hating when someone get "signed" to a major label deal.

I read the crap that Lupe and Rhymefest said about Chief Keef and it sounds like jealously that Keef was actually popular. I'm in Atlanta and I personally have more guns than Lil JoJo and his whole crew had in that videos and we have more rappers repping that lifestyle harder than Keef but you don't see us acting a fool like Chicago.

So it isn't the rappers like Keef, admit it...

chaunceydevega said...

@Ed. i never said he created it. check my piece on black nihilism over at my own site WARN. I will be following it up with a quick post about an angle to keef and that jo jo mess that has been little discussed.

he is a symbol of a lost generation. he ain't the first one; i think he is a target because he is so marginally talented and the gang stuff going on here in chicago. keef is really a caricature of degenerate negritude that WD Griffith could cast in an update of Birth of a Nation.

commercial hip hop is prefaced right now on hyper thug black masculinity--he is just leveraging what the market wants. that does not mean the consequences should be ignored.

near a major highway, i wouldn't disagree with your insights nor would it surprise me. these corner boys? they would be better off at mcdonald's and wouldn't have to deal with the threat of going to jail and the opportunity costs it entails. but then again, going to jail is a rite of passage for some of those clowns and they treat it like grad school.

I agree with that, but I think we need to change our language about "what the market wants" as oppose to what executives insist that the market wants. Nobody thought the market would want rap music in the first place. That is what's so ironic to me about what the market wants as it pertains to rap music.

The market supposedly wanted David Carradine's face as oppose to Bruce Lee's face. In reality, someone at the top couldn't have Hop Sing beating up white folks every week on national television. You feel me? There is a demographic no doubt but is that demographic really as rigid as the top would have us believe? Remember Soulja Boy's thing hit the top without Chief's content.

Both Chauncey and ED:

THE NOTION OF itemizing the VOLUNTEER WORK that you have done in response to the challenge "So What Have You Done" is no longer sufficient?

I used to volunteer in a reading program for 2.5 years. I notice that AT NO TIME did a FATHER of one of these boys come to pick them up. (Mothers, older sisters, older brothers - ONLY).

At that point I realized two things:

1) I did not HIT THE BOOTY and produce this child yet there is a pull for ME to LEAVE MY WIFE AND CHILDREN on Saturdays to go cover for another man's creation

2) JUST LIKE in Hurricane Katrina - BLACK PEOPLE looked at:
A) The CRITICAL NEED
B) The Scale Of The Need
C) The Scale of The RESCUE EFFORT
D) The Timeliness of it

AND THEY CRITICIZED AND REJECTED the lack of priority.

WHY THEN should anyone be appeased by an INDIVIDUAL VOLUNTEER effort?
WHY AREN'T WE looking at the COMPREHENSIVENESS OF THE RESPONSE?

Those who TOOK THE VALUABLES FROM BLACK PEOPLE as they claimed that they would provide a fix - why isn't anyone asking for their money back?

WHAT IS THE COST of the eroded enforcement of our CULTURAL NORMS?
