White people speak for all white people all the time. They just don't mention race.
Whenever you hear a politican or pundit talk about "all Americans", that's code for "us white people".
White elites maintain control because poor whites think that white privlidge extends to them too.
Black folks are way too sensitive to class and caste to go for the okey doke like that. But the downside of that as we get greater upward mobility we have no collective clout.
Most black folks - poor and middle class alike - have no agenda beyond keeping our head above water.
Coalition building with other ethnic groups? Keeping preachers and politicians honest? Leveraging the clout of our global footprint in entertainment?
Forgetaboutit.
If there ever was a black community, it is no more!
Of course there is a black community...or communities, more accurately.
One of the trade-offs of success and freedom is that the simple points of unity don't work anymore. It used to be we could all bond over egregious white oppression, James Brown and fried chicken. Now there are black folks who know fried food can kill them. We can sit at lunch counters and eat, and we can, in most instances, vote. And there are black folks, God help them, who don't appreciate the genius of James Brown.
That doesn't many we can't have a collective movement.
Look at the Jewish community. There are Jews who change their name, marry blondes and put up a Christmas tree every year. And there are Orthodox Jews who you see walking on Saturday, rocking the curly locks and put a sheet between them and their sexual partner.
But both groups will come together on key issues, even though there's more they disagree about.
Are there five issues that the vast majority of black people will support? Perhaps controlling the operations and content of our school systems, just to throw one idea out there?
Whenever you hear a politican (sic) or pundit talk about "all Americans", that's code for "us white people".
I don't necessarily believe that. They're talking about all the folks down with their agenda. They're more concerned about "results" than "race."
Perhaps I can be persuaded... but I sure ain't yet...
The next step in our anthropological development will be when we accept the full responsibility for ourselves, when we divorce ourselves from these group identities that have nothing to do with our character - with our consciousness. At that time we'll also stop making judgments about individuals because they appear to belong to certain groups - instead we'll see them for what they are - how they accept the responsibility for themselves.
I think that's a very very difficult step to make, and I don't judge anyone for not having the strength to make it yet. But that's where freedom is.

1) If you go and see "The Help" this weekend, as I saw last night - you will understand that "The BLACK COLLECTIVE" is a function of:
A) OTHER PEOPLE targeting you as such as part of their agenda to protect THEIR interests from you
and
B) WHAT BLACK PEOPLE acknowledge about ourselves. In as much as IT IS THE CASE - that "genetic physics" tell us that a baby born from your womb WILL BE BLACK......it is reasonable for your desired advantage for HIM be a function of the advantage that PEOPLE WHO LOOK LIKE HIM are able to exert as a group.
SURELY if we can be targeted for oppression then there is truth that we can agree toward affirmative mutual advantage for ourselves. (No need to oppress others).
With regard to "Race Traitor" - we must welcome Brothers West and Smiley to the world of "Racial Benedict Arnold-ry"
EXCEPT most people are not going to analyze to see that THEY DID NOT VIOLATE THEIR "RACE". They merely violated the tenants of "BLACK PROGRESSIVE-FUNDAMENTALISM"!!!!!
By daring to continue to "Speak Truth To Power" about the poverty and joblessness among Black people - they IRONICALLY have thrown a wrench into the BLACK RACIAL SERVICE'S MACHINE!!!!!!
The MACHINE that was built up (ironically) because BLACK PEOPLE WERE POOR AND JOBLESS - have now doubled over on itself and became merely a vessel for CORRUPT AGGREGATION OF POWER!!!!!!!
For me - a "Race Traitor" is one who knows the well documented interests of Black people and yet FAILS TO STOP a group of people who have USURPED the Black Community Development Consciousness as they operate upon our name yet FAIL to deliver for our community.
It's always amusing to me when the notion of a "black community" is derided as a divide & conquer tactic...
...then some person starts beating their chest over further dividing the segment.
Everyone takes on some sort of group identity. And personally, "I grow weary of the mentality" that tends to suggest the black one is the incorrect one.
This country has created a black collective whether (certain) black people like it or not. You can posture as an enlightened "Loose Negro" all you want, but for the time being, it is what it is. At the very least, I'd expect any black person to understand the reactionary element.
As for the highlighted comment:
Though it's not a particularly loving one, rich whites have a very special bond with the poor ones. Many of the poor ones are still so enamored by the centuries of propaganda about their white skin being worth a damn, that they'll fight tooth & nail to protect the rich ones from any outside threat. For if they don't, it endangers the potential, identity and self-esteem of the group (or at least it does in many of their minds). Though a serious threat to the rich would need to occur before we know for certain if whiteness is where the rich's core loyalty/agenda lies, the two sides have, in fact, been in bed with one another for quite some time under the guise of whiteness. (Personally, I think it's deeper than just a relationship of convenience, but that's another topic.)
A significant portion of this country's infrastructure is the result of an overt "white collective." And the flames of the aforementioned buffer are fanned on a daily basis, whether people are breaking out neon signs and "claiming" it or not.
Either way, I don't particularly rock with the "White people aren't doing it, so it must be wrong" logic. I'm just sayin.
Side note: "Destitute-minded" is a two-way street. It's possible that you - black skin and all - might be "their kind" for that very reason. You might be fighting the good fight without even knowing it (Checkers).
It WOULD exist if we could all accept the views of CBW, DMG or Ronald as being valid points (even if incorrect).
The idea that someone is "Blacker" than someone else because he favors a more accepted view is just dumb.
Some of my best friends are often those who hate me the most - but they always respect me even when I may be wrong.
This country has created a black collective whether (certain) black people like it or not.
I am of this country and I didn't create that "collective," so what group represents this country? And if that group doesn't have my interests at heart, shouldn't I challenge their brain child and promote the establishment of "collectives" that focus on fundamental core values instead of superficial skin color?
"Like it or not" has a "go with it because you're powerless" tone. Not liking it is an invitation to openly challenge the idea that my skin color locks me into a "collective" of people with views I don't necessarily support.
It's possible that you - black skin and all - might be "their kind"...
Nah. I sat in a secluded place and listened to folk talk about the drugs they sold to their own kind... children nonetheless... and plot on women they wanted to attack (rape). Not one spoke of building a strong family or a willingness to stop robbing their own neighbors of their hard-earned possessions.
The idea of our "miseducation" seems to "escape" the opinions of so many. "Know thyself" is the doctrine Socrates espoused, and this is the base of the educational system in Amerikka. With thousands of young black men languishing in their "hoods" trapped in a drug economy..looking for a head fake "program" that will get them back on the "white" oops I mean right track... is this what we have come to...Why should we spend 12 and 16 years seeking an education only to give the benefit of our knowledge back to the sons of the very slave masters we are so called freed from???? Continuing to beg for so called jobs from the very individuals who have designed this sophisticated new slavery....no one will ever respect "beggars"....Obama "juked" us..what if "Jesus" doesn't show up..massa what is I gonna do???
