Soul Train Line 1976 - Are Modern Day Black Americans Still This Funky?

If they shot Soul Train today ... 70% of these people would be obese.

I'd say it would more than likely be 85%.
I run clubs and all I see are overfed women with tight clothes or those who wear dresses with Empire Waists which make them look pregnant.
When these beasts try to step to me, I'm polite - but in reality many women have eaten themselves out of contention for the men they desire.

Went to a wedding "in the hood" Saturday with the wife; her and one other woman (besides a dyke couple) were the only ones who were in any decent shape. The rest of the women were in obvious bad shape, single, and just mad at Every.Damn.Thing. Talking shit, complaining, criticizing the arrangements...but tore all the fried chicken and potato salad up.

Besides my wife and I...and the dyke couple...there were only like three other married couples, including the bride and groom.

Black folks have become overwhelmingly fat, furious (at who the hell knows what), and fagged out. And what's really unfortunate about all this, is that it's just as prevalent, if not moreso, in the children.

You don't have to trump up some controversy if you want to post a funky clip from Soul Train. Just do it, like you post pix of beautiful women.

I was surprised the music was from Phish. Didn't know they got that funky.

trump?

controversy?

Nah my man. I'm just acknowledging the obvious.

These black people LOOK and move very differently from black people today.

I'm less interested in the background music than I am in the genetic mutation taking place before our very eyes.

Is that video real? Or a comnputer-rendered emulation of the old SoulTrain with the new music...??

Casting will nix the obese

Denmark Vesey said...

Casting ... or no casting.

Black people do not look like this anymore.

Shoot Soul Train tonight ... and at least half the cast would be clinically obese.

30 years of genetically modified and processed foods has changed our dna.

Black men today are fed a diet with more estrogen in it than any men in the history of the world.

black people HAVE BEEN changed.

Hell.

Outside of Soul Train.

There were always the occasional fat black person in every family.

But not the epidemic of obesity we see today.

Walk through a Walmart in 2011.

The people you see will look dramatically different from the people you would have seen walking through a Sears in 1981.

Nah.

The operative meme from this flick is not the groove or the dance moves.

The operative meme is the apparent success of the Eugenics Movement.

Not only were black folks thinner, but they were more disciplined.

@DSmith-- See how easy it is to get started *stereotyping*...??

D.SMITH said...

Nah, no stereotyping. I saw and heard this with my own eyes and ears. "There go the lesbian couple I was telling you about that got married last week," is what the groom told me later, so it's not like I'm labeling them "dyke" because they "looked butch." As a matter of fact, they didn't. The reason they were brought to my attention is a whole 'nother conversation.

It wasn't a large wedding (later found out that a lot of the people that were invited just didn't bother showing up, even after RSVPing), so it's not hard to mingle amongst people and hear their conversations. And if I'm lookin' at you waddlin' down the aisles grippin' the back of chairs to keep your big ass from tippin' over, well then it appears you could benefit from shedding a few pounds.

Is this observation about ALL black people? Hell no, and definitely not in my house; that's the "Black community" I'm most concerned with. But my wife and I have been having this same conversation for a while now. Black people are in bad shape, mentally and physically. I went to the wedding with every intention of seeing how noticeable all this was.

The "funk" is really just our "African-ness." With each day that passing day, we lose a little bit of it. I've been to West Africa and those folks get DOWN. FUNKY! Jamaicans are a little more watered down than the W. Africans. And we are a little more watered down than the Jamaicans. It's like the funk eminates from Africa and the further away you are from Africa, the less funky you are.

Denmark Vesey said...

I don't know 'bout dat Wonder.

um um

Nah.

You operating on dated assumptions about the flow of funk little cousin.

The "Out of Africa" theory is a head fake.

There are some elements to this kind of Blackness that are indigenous to right the fuuug here.

Jamaicans aint watered down nobody.

Show me a black African blacker than Bob Marley.

IWonderAsIWander said...

Interesting, cuz. I dunno. I ain't never seen a Jamaican go into a trance on the dancefloor. But I saw a whole club full of Xhosas do it in Jo'berg.

Denmark Vesey said...

True. I bet seeing a whole club full of Xhosas go into a trance must be quite a site.

I've seen 1 Jamaican ... put the whole world in a trance ... even 30 years after his death.

"Exodus ... movement of Jah people".

Bob Marley the Blackest man on the Planet since Jesus of Nazareth.

This is definitely a problem. I talk about this a lot with my wife. When we lived in Memphis we both noticed that a lot of couples consisted of a skinny dude with an obese woman. Not all the couples, because the brothers can eat too.

My theory was that a lot of guys would go on fast food runs to Church's Chicken, KFC, etc for their gf and wifey. A lot of times they have coupons. You know men do not clip coupons to go to fast food restaurants.

Add to that a lot of times when we congregate together it centers around food. Especially with the sisters. Going out to eat is an important ritual in the work place. I used to work in an office that was 80% female and every week the girls were planning a potluck. It was wonderful but when you factor in eating out for lunch everyday there is no way to avoid becoming obese if you live like that.

This has got to stop. It's almost like Hansel and Gretel where the witch was fattening them up for the kill. Our people are just munching away like a herd of cattle. They don't care what's in the food, hormones, drugs, it doesn't seem to matter.
WTF is going on here?
