Ahmadinejad questions U.S. Government’s complicity in 9/11 on the floor of the U.N.
“We were all saddened for the 3,000 lives lost on 9/11,” said
Ahmadinejad, adding “since then hundreds of thousands of people have
been killed in Afghanistan and Iraq.”
First mentioning the official story as one viewpoint to explain
9/11, Ahmadinejad went on to elaborate on others — that elements within
the U.S. Government orchestrated the attack, (“the majority of the
American people as well as other nations and politicians agree with this
view,” Ahmadinejad declared of this viewpoint), or that the U.S.
Government learned of the terrorist plot and allowed it to happen and/or
quietly assisted it.
By evening, Fox News was in full spin mode, using his comments as
fuel for its usual rhetoric against Iran, stoking the PR fires for when
the White House and the Pentagon decide to take the next step in
furthering the neocon vision of an American Empire in the Middle East.
Other mainstream news sources have included in their coverage of
Ahmadinejad’s speech a rehash on the official story of 9/11, written in a
tone of unquestioning authority in order to convince the reader that
there is absolutely no debate as to what happened on that day, despite scientific evidence that the three buildings that fell in New York City on 9/11 were not brought down by fire.

Pulled the story up at work today...was reading some of the comments. People were saying that whenever they made comments supporting Ahmadinejad, CNN just happened to magically make them disappear.
Hmmm...imagine that.
The really screwy thing is that the last few times he's made speeches, the translation was slightly different in the media outside of the U.S. I'll save my judgement until I hear translation from my Farsi friends.
