Another Brother Dares Ask Why

Recently I put the "shoes off" rule to the test following n the footsteps of the Blackest man on the Internet. The results were comical to say the least.

Watching the plantation slaves obediently removing their shoes without question was interesting, and the look on the "Security" persons face was worth the inconvenience.

I told her that I preferred not to remove my shoes (which i admit were thin sole Italian designer ankle boots) and she stated that if I wanted to catch my flight i would have too.

I asked her was this a federal law, she replied yes, I then asked her for a written document indicating the legality but she didnt have one and stated they were posted on the front of the baggage scanner. I told her I did not see one on any of the scanners in the entire section or any scanner in the immediate area.

She looked puzzled and stated that because of the "shoe bomb" incident that is why the shoe removal was necessary. I continued pressing on and asked if they had a shoe scanner, she stated that they only had one in the D.C. airport. I finally let her off the hook by removing my shoes.

Seems interesting that the "worlds busiest airport" did not have a serious legal posting in place, nor the latest in technology, even when a person on a terrorist list could board with a bomb on his person. (I feel so safe)!
