Manute Bol--Conscious Athlete, Afrikan Peace Activist, Dedicated Humanitarian.

If only this type of consciousness was pervasive throughout our global community and sports.

May his heart be as light as the feather of Ma’at. May he soar through eternity on the wings of Heru. Like, Ausar, a tree planted by the water, may his commitment never be removed from our consciousness.

Then what?

What would happen if this type of 'consciousness was pervasive throughout our global community and sports"?

What's your take?

If 100 NBA dudes were just like Manut Bol in this regard .... what would be different?

all livin’ organism,
connected by 1 DIVINE system,
unity in diversity,
unity of opposites,
is the beginnin’ of wisdom,
what manifest on earth,
is that which is accepted n da heart,
no self consciousness,
then self centered foolishness,
self interest is the plague of man,
creatin’ da memes n’ material brand,
minds trapped in the matrix of disconnectedness,
cant perceive a DIVINE ONENESS
raise the consciousness of a ONENESS,
n’ y’ll see heaven on earth,
with a quickness,

Cheikh Anta Diop posed the question, civilization or barbarism? This world is on a collision course with barbarism. Manute Bol was doing his part to push us towards civilization. He is a model to be emulated.

If there were a hundred black millionares who cared about society, and not just shallow materialism, they could rock the world.

When black folks have been motivated to move mountains, the geography changes. And those efforts are usually undercapitalized. That many black folks with money would make it "cool" and hundred others would join in just because it's the thing to do.

Suddenly we'd have think tanks, PACS, and all the other devices it takes to change legislation and create economic opportunity.

With a success or two under their belt, some might decide to make a habit out of it.

Dude. Mak.

I hear ya.

Sounds Good.

But ... come on now.

100 millionaire 'Manut Bols" in the NBA ... OK.

We get 'think tanks', PACS & "Legislation" ... That do WHAT?

Not bustin' your balls ... I really want to know.

I for one, cannot imagine ANY "legislation" that could do anything to slow down or stop the millions of black people who will die from diabetes over the next few years.

I cannot imagine a PAC that could do anything to thwart the war on men and fathers in this country that is destroying families.

Now ... If Kobe Bryant or LeBron James were to finish each NBA interview with "Say No To GMO" (Denmark Vesey style) .... I could see a whole domino series of positive events triggered.

We as a people are so committed to failure that the first thing we do it focus on what can't happen.

The assassinations of MLK and Malcolm X seemed to have killed our ability for constructive dreaming.

But to your question directly DV, the PACS and think tanks would just be two of the tools in a toolbox.

No reason why we shouldn't have our own version of Blackwater for military operations, domestic or international, for example.

But the bigger point is we have done so much with so little, the proper resources and the desire to actually get things done, a lot more could happen.

The fact that every problem...or even many problems...would not be solved should not be a deterent.
