...yes, "real" indeed. Make your own conclusions. If the man's not who he SAYS he is...

Is Dr. Afrika as "Black as DV"?

You betta ask somebody! :)

Wax,

Watched that video. Dr. Afrika makes a good point in the beginning about eating too much junk food. However, he loses credibility when he starts on with the details (I say this because if he didn't ad lib the details he'd probably reach more people).

1. A chicken egg isn't a chickens "fetus", but rather the unfertilized ovum, which is really high in protein, and is a nutrient dense food. Dr. Afrika is confusing the egg with something called "balut" a fertilized egg allowed to develop into a yolk sac with a developing fetus.

(I don't really eat eggs often, maybe once every a year or so...just not a fan).

2. In the U.S. bacon isn't from the pigs "ass", but rather the belly (makes no difference to you I suppose, but again details, Also rarely eat bacon).

3. water and oil don't mix. Actually oil is not soluble in water. He's COMPLETELY wrong when he says oil and water cannot be "digested" simultaneously. Oil and other fats are first taken up by micelles formed from bile secreted by the gallbladder when stimulated by cholecystokinin in response to a fatty meal. Fats are then solubilized (able to dissolve in water) and the enzyme lipase breaks down the fat in to usable
substrate.

Why do I point this out? The man overall has a good message, stop eating large volumes of unhealthy food. He only weakens the argument by not having his facts straight, casting a shadow on his entire message.

What's the point if he doesn't accomplish the mission he set out to do?

Even biblical principles of what constitutes "food" allows for the human consumption of certain meats.

But I agree wholeheartedly that (1) we consume too much and (2) the processes used to prepare and distribute food are HUGE culprits in our poor health.

After watching the "Yummy" video that HotmfWax posted, I still don't oppose meat consumption because there are farmers everywhere with clean stables, free roaming animals, good feed, and humane slaughter practices. The problem is, that good meat probably isn't what you're gonna score when shopping at the local supermarket. smh

Well, if a person gets the basics incorrect and attempts to pass this incorrect information along to others, you can't consider him a teacher. Nice try, with the old definition by the way. Showed hail mary creativity.

But isn't "Black" the dominant trait?
Could the world ever eliminate Blacks?

Think about the American policies concerning immigration and exogamy.
Asia is too far away for them to take over the US.
Hispanics are only a few miles away so they could overwhelm the current statua quo.
Blacks could have kids with anyone and produce more Blacks.
Many whites have a bit of "Black blood" and later generations could show more Black-like traits.
In reality, Blacks will always be here.

I watched DrAfrica's YouTube channel. He knows what he's talking about.

Hi KIT,

No KIT, he doesn't.

Look, I don't want to fight about this. He clearly has large gaps in his understanding of the human body (see my post above).

The message is fine (hell our hosts message has some positive aspects--and I really do applaud him for trying to get the message of poor diet out), but he goes off the rails with the details. Being sloppy with the details will eventually lead you down the wrong path. It's kind of like those stupid medical shows: House MD, Grey's Anatomy, etc. they think accuracy of information somehow might obscure their message.

MOTI,

No problem. It's happened from time to time (usually a few times a month), but this was the first time I've seen it go to a screen saying tha "www.denmarkvesey.net" was for sale.

Yea Dr Afrika's got a good message but falls short on accuracy of knowledge.

Apart from what DMG pointed out, potatoes are not made from water. Where I'm from that's a common expression to say they're tasteless or flaccid bec of the rains, but I don't know what he means by that. Potatoes are 95% starch, 5% water and some varieties of GM potatoes have more starch content.

Also there's no correlation between melanin skin disorders and food addiction - has there been an increase in vitiligo or melanoma cases that can be linked to obesity? Or what melanin altering effects does a junk food addiction have? I'm not quite sure I get that.

UBJ - true Black will always be here 50 years from now America will have very diff demographics - pity that it'll be plenty of obese Black and Latinos.

DMG,

explain this part 2!

does this ever stop:).

com on bra. I know that even you can't buy this.

Wax,

I have a serious question for you. Have you ever been referred to a psychiatrist for paranoid dilusions?

I think your fantasy world is starting to intrude on reality.

HotmfWax said...

Whoa DMG,

"paranoid delusions?"

This is from CNN dr. Gupta himself:

"2009 H1N1 flu strain will be in next season flu vaccine
Posted: 05:44 PM ET
CNN Medical News Managing Editor

The 2009 H1N1 flu virus, which has been circulating since last spring, sickened millions and killed at least 15,000 people worldwide, will be included in the next seasonal flu vaccine when it becomes available in the fall, health experts in the United States decided Monday."

Doc,

You don't find it strange that instead of throwing away all the unused H1N1 Vaccine, they will just combine it with next fall "seasonal" flu vaccine?

Is that normal procedure?

Here from CNN

I guess I am crazy.

The way you reacted to the video I thought whoever I was about to see was going to be wearing a goat horn head piece with a pentagram medallion. What was so over the top about someone's analysis of some bumbling busted Walter Cronkite reaching for calculated speech and TV savvy jargon?

I listened to talk radio on the way back home this morning and you can tell the difference when the hosts are selling a product for their sponsors and back in their comfort zone with daily social commentary. There's no deep psychoanalysis needed to peep that.
It's bad enough an opposing argument isn't represented on network television, but when someone critiques the sincerity of some spokesman and a product he represents then it's fantasy I don't get. Just look at it as a Coke vs. Pepsi taste test, except on some ol' Dr. Frankenstein ysh.

Gee-Chee,

He would have been more authentic had he been wearing that goat horn headpiece. I can tell the difference, but it seems many folks here cannot, and that is why we are so often arguing about nonsense "remedies".
