Hot Wax Educating More Negros Than The United Negro College Fund

DV,

I think in regards to our entire Education, we have abandoned our own responsibility to educate our kids and turned it over to an "OC-CULT SYSTEM OF SATURN(EL)."

I thought you liked rap DV. Where is the tribute to Guru? Without him there would be no Drake or Lil Wayne or other MCs who flow to different types of melodies and play with their rhyme structures. RIP.

Hey M.

Saw that.

Yeah ... Ol' Guru gone huh?

I like Guru a lot. I remember talking to him one night back in 95 or 96, in the basement of a club on the Lower East side at about 4 in the morning. I had never seen anyone so high.

Bartenders were putting chairs up. Cutting lights out. Trying to send us home. My man was going to finish is 22 minute sentence no matter what.

Artistically I never found Guru as profound as a Biggie. A Fiddie. Or a Wayne. Or even a Drake.

Good. But not clever.

He was the voice of that Gangstarr sound which wasn't particularly lyrical.

It was rap. But it didn't have any memetic gravity.

You know what I mean?

For example can you drop a Gangstar lyric right now other than "Ganstarr has got to be da sure shot?"

So other than nostalgia, I can't find the memetic significance of Gurus passing.

If you see one pleas help me out.

So I take it i'm not the only one unnerved by seeing things such as my aunts who are getting up into their 40's and 50's, sighing about how life "ain't been no crystal stair" for them, then ultimately resolving that the remedy is for them to "go back to school".

And I don' want to discourage them from that, I graduated and all, and i'm sure that might serve as even more encouragement, but they can't unplug enough to realize that school isn't always the answer. I'm thinking hell, y'all should learn a trade, or pool your money together and buy a corner store or something. I don't know, what do y'all think?

Thank You Doc,

Thank You.

Hot Wax hit it on the head.

The modern School system ... with it's degrees ... is really a Masonic right ... a path to ascension ... apotheosis ... the promise "self improvement" ... in the process people just become indoctrinated.

Our entire educations system needs to be scrapped and rebuilt from scratch.

I've got a cousin in his 3rd year of law at Howard.

I'm like .... why?

His sister is in her first year of medical school ... I'm like. Why?

What are you going to do with that when you graduate in 2014?

How are you going to make a living trained in allopathy in 2024?

The last couple of people I hired for a project were in Jakarta.

Smart, informed, capable and inexpensive.

I could have hired any nerd with degree from Cal Tech Fullerton ... but why?

DV he had memetic genius but you simply didn't appreciate him. That is really a matter of taste. But if you don't give 'Can we be the sole controllers of our fate, now who's gonna take the weight' props for even discussing these issues during a time when lyricism gave way to shock value in rap then you are trippin! Never said he was the greatest MC but he was an intelligent and talented man.

As to being high, nothing wrong with that; it seemed to elevate his consciousness:)

The Doc and DV seems like neither of you understand the joy that learning can bring. Going back to school may be a means to an end for some, but for others they go to school because they enjoy learning about things.

You might be able to read about medicine and learn some academic knowledge on your own but if you don't have access to cadavers and live bodies, like a school provides, then how could you practice your craft.

I think education is in a radical need of change but I don't think school is useless. You can only go so far on your own where you will need some guidance in your areas of study.

Otherwise you might not be able to see your critical thinking errors without someone to spot you.

I think that was Marcus Garvey's problem; he had a great idea but no real support circle of folks to keep him in check and help him come up with a game plan that made sense. He only had half of what he needed to execute his plans.

As to the unschooling, that is more like the Montessori method. But base foundational skills should be mastered before that method is applied for all learning, otherwise you have gaps like my husband where he was an ambidexterous mechanic and could put together any and everything mechanical all the way to computers. But he didn't learn to read until he was twelve.

These types of gaps aren't conducive to total success...Although his job today is very much related to what he did as a child in montessori school.

@Rig,

“Men had better be without education than be educated by their rulers.” –Thomas Hodgskin, 1823

True story.

During Green Week. My son told his teacher global warming is a hoax and not real.

She laughed and called him stupid in front of the class.

He did not take to lightly to that.

Next stop. Principle office.

What did Dad do?

Told him to chill! "They said the next stop could be CPS."

Now,

Is that education or Indoctrination?

Do you think I care about his grades or homework or anything he achieves in this FORCED STATE MANDATED CHILD BRAINWASHING SYSTEM?

NOPE.

I am ashamed that I had to tell him to chill because I don't wan't to be on the grid with CPS (Still hurts).

Learning is a good thing. However, please take into consideration the who, what and why that is teaching you or your family.

Do you send your child to state school? Or an alternative school? If its indoctrination, why send him? Home school would be better wouldn't it?

Mahndisa S. Rigmaiden said...

HW I tutor math for a living and my parents are both teachers. We are all aware of the brainwashing that our system makes people undergo...but that doesn't mean that our jobs are any less valid. You need decent people in education as teachers otherwise we'll have a nation of robots.

I do agree that certain topics are more in the purview of scientific fear mongering than actual fact and on these issues it can be very difficult to reconcile what you learn at home vs. school.

At six when I told my Mother that columbus discovered the new world, she and my dad just about shit their pants and went OFF! Told me about Prince Abubakari II and Ivan van Sertima and the Olmec heads. My Daddy said, 'If Columbus discovered America, then what about the people who were already living here?'

Then my Dad explained that to a western white man, columbus did 'discover' America and opened it up to western exploitation and interests. My Mother never gave him that much credit;)

HW, it is important to teach kids how to THINK above all else and sometimes its quite clear that schools aren't doing that as they should. But as I said before for specific disciplines guidance is needed from experts.

KW,Rig;

He goes Public School.

It sucks but the religious indoctrination in the private system was a turn off to us both in the area.

At 13 year old, I started to let my son son do as he wanted to in regards to school. Neither one of us( in spite of his mom) takes it seriously:).

However, his attitude, has become a big help to him in a weird way - with that much freedom, he has become a computer genius and businessman. He charges his friends anywhere from 20 to 100 bucks to hack into their iphone and download free software and movies etc., etc., man even I don't want to know :). Kids and parents from all over dropping their stuff off (lord help me).

I also have notice by him studying everything that I am studying and having the same dislike for "the man" that I have, I could not be more proud than a parent with a kid with a 4.0. HE CHALLENGES ME!

Don't get me wrong...He gets some things out of SCHOOL, but he is just not "all in."

Sounds like you are a good Father who understands how your sons mind works. I have to admit he sounds like my husband! So many boys have genius that is currently being tapped by the technology out there so more power to him.

I bet he taught himself all that stuff because school is always behind the curve when it comes to technologies. Would you believe in high schools sometimes they still use TI calculators? I thought that shit was obsolete!

I think if anything, school can function as a microcosm for the real world people you have to interact with in life AND it also shows children people they'd never meet otherwise.

"The Doc and DV seems like neither of you understand the joy that learning can bring."

Nah M.

I believe people die when the stop learning.

I just don't confuse "Learning" with "College" tuition and degrees.

College in a contemporary context is a product.

A Commodity.

A Brand.

Conspicuous Consumption.

People borrowing money to go to college makes about as much sense as borrowing money to buy platinum teeth.

Wow Wax.

Funny you say that.

I find myself drifting in the same direction with my sons.

We learn so much on our own.

I spend half my timed deprogramming them from the nonsensical brainwashing that goes on in schools these days ... from 911 to Vaccines.

Mahndisa S. Rigmaiden said...

DV then you do you suggest that people become scientists? They need training in foundational knowledge. And personally I think once a person decides they want to be in science, then they ought to be granted a position to be an apprentice to a scientist. But even still foundational knowledge is a must. If school is increasingly irrelevant (your words in other posts) then how might we usher in scientists, doctors and mathematicians in your system?

And to an extent you have a point about the uselessness of certain college degrees and how college is taught...

The Doc said...

Hey M...

Nah, don't get me wrong, I ain't sayin' there's anything wrong with learning. Really, I meet up with you guys every day and puff puff pass on new mad ideas all the time, so that's far from my mindset.

I'm talking about people who think that "dream job" will be just around the corner, that all their prayers will be answered once they get that degree. Not to mention, as DV said, the huge amount of debt they'll be putting themselves in to do so. One aunt in particular that I have in mind is one of the best cooks i've ever tasted. I can't help but thinking she should put that talent towards opening a restaurant or something. But since the plantation never taught her to think in those terms, it's just a talent she has that she's always equated with her home, and nothing more. I have another who can create from scratch dresses that look like they came from the store rack. (i've had times where she'd literally show me pictures of family members wearing clothes, and I had no idea she made them.) I encourage her all the time to put that talent to use and become a serious fashion designer. She always shrugs me off, as though I were speaking a foreign language. This is what i'm talking about. Why doesn't our system teach kids stuff like this?

Because the pants company doesn't need competition, but it could sure use a few strong backs who don't mind making Levis for the rest of their lives.

Mahndisa S. Rigmaiden said...

The Doc now I get it, got it fully understand and fully agree with you. School should never be a means to an end if the end is being a slave to a system...I feel what you've said.

Big Wayne said...

Dv why must you name drop Guru's name couldn't you just say "some guy?" LOL ...anyway what do you mean let your child do anything they want in school??? Im curious

Denmark Vesey said...

Big Weeeeezy!!

My man.

Where you been bra?

LOL. Yeah I was on some ... "When I was in the club with Guru" shit. LOL. You got me.

Do anything they want in school?

Nah. I don't mean that man.

My sons are extremely respectful and honorable young men.

Their teachers say they remind them of young boys from a different era.

One little white woman had to fight back tears talking about how much of a joy my youngest boy was to have in her class. "We don't get boys like him in school anymore!"

I'm like 'I bet you don't.'

Schools don't make boys like that anymore.

School is good place to learn the mechanics.

reading. figuring.

But after that besides a few math courses it's all propaganda.

Bad propaganda.

Mind numbing propaganda.

That produces numb people.

My sons are at an age where they recognize bullshit.

It's hard for me to pretend that what they get on a 7th grade social studies test "about the middle east" really matters.

Big Wayne! Glad you dropped thru.

You got some lyrics?

What's up?

You scared?

lol

Drop Summin!

FROM WAX ...

Say Whaaaat........

Hey if you can go Harry Potter :)....

BTW, why do we covet that Damm degree?????

Yeah DV, I got to go Matrix (Morpheus) for a few minutes and explain why we covet this sick Satanic (your words) system of bringing up our kids in the same 12 steps(12 grades) program of irresponsibility.

Did you know the city of Rome was originally known as Saturnia or City of Saturn(EL) and that the Roman Catholic church retains much of the "Saturn worship" in its rituals into our Educational system that we have in place today?

Schools and the Cult of Saturn(EL).

DV, when you graduate from high school you come out processionally with a black robe, which is black for Saffron, the God of the Hebrews, requiring that you wear the square mortarboard on top of your head(the square is the cube of Saturn(Black Sun(see Mecca))). The square mortarboards are, of course, used by the Freemasons for their plaster, and also another reason why you wear a square mortarboard when you graduate, ultimately becoming an Alumni. It all has to do with Freemasonry; it all has to do with the control of education in this country.”

Astrology Brah....

First you pay out your “tuition” to get into “universe”ity where they strip you of your Intuition and give you an Indoctrination. Then you receive a “MaStars” Masonic “degree,” while wearing a Masonic mortar board cap and Cult of Saturn black robes to become an Alumni/Illumini. Graduation means to increment or retard progress.

“the true meaning of Graduation is gradual indoctrination.”

Indeed.

Stick a bunch of 5 year olds in a room full of 5year olds for a year, then a bunch of 6year olds with 6year olds and so on for 20 years, until you’re so indoctrinated they give you a doctorate.

The syllables are Mafor measure and Storfor Star. ‘measurer of the stars,’ namely an astrologer. Children are still given a star today for successful application to their studies. When we matriculate from a university, we are given a ‘Master’s Degree.’ This is purely sabean. Degrees are part of the cycle of the zodiac. One was given a ‘degree,’ to show that they, like the sun they were progeny of, had ascended to an exalted place. Once you had mastered the stars you were then quite literally a MASTER.”

Every day all over the world, millions of bright young minds are spending the best years of their lives being herded around by governments like cattle, responding to bells, whistles and other Pavlovian/Skinnerian conditioning. Millions of children are locked into this program Monday to Friday from 9-5 performing boring/arduous tasks against their will because society has deemed it necessary. Just like the workplace, only unquestioning compliance is rewarded and your only reprieves are snack breaks and lunch time, which are withheld from you like salivating dogs until the bell rings. Meanwhile they anxiously sit in rigid rows all facing the big boss and the blackboard, focused on fantasy objectives, conditioned to view other students as competitors and hindrances.
