DMG siad ...
It seems that (unlike you) Farrahkan is secure enough in his manhood that he's not afraid he'll "turn gay" by getting a digital rectal exam...
What you scared of?
The mark of a true snake-oil salesman...the "CURE-ALL". Is that Thordaddy narrating?
The Facts
Most prostate cancer is slow growing, contained, and not life threatening. Most old men that die with undiagnosed prostate cancer, never knew they had it and it never caused them a problem. Even if they had it for 20-30 years.
Most older men with prostate cancer are never actually bothered or threatened by it. They usually eventually die of some other cause.
The prostate exam and PSA test, more often than not, seem to cause a lot of unnecessary worry.
For the men with fast growing prostate cancer here are the statistics:
The survival rate for those who underwent surgery, radiation and chemo therapy is no greater after 10 years than for those who did nothing at all. It's a fact.
The greatest amount of new prostate cancers is found in men who underwent surgery, radiation and chemotherapy and have past the 5 year survival mark.
The reason for this is that you just do not make a body healthy by poisoning it. Ever. You may kill the present cancer cells, but cancer will just come back even stronger because the body is weaker and even more compromised.
Prostate cancer treatment may also cause incontinence (inability to control urine flow) and erectile dysfunction (erections inadequate for intercourse). For these reasons, it is important that the benefits and risks of diagnostic procedures and treatment be taken into account when considering whether to undertake prostate cancer screening.
If cancer exists, you must consider this:
Cancer Is Not A Localized Condition
Cancer is a condition of the entire body. If you just cut it out, or burn it out, or poison it to death, it will almost always come back. Almost always. Your chances are better on the lottery.
Cancer is caused. It does not just happen.
Lifestyle and environmental pollution cause cancer. If you clean up and normalize your internal environment, your body will clean up and heal itself. People do this successfully year after year. It is not highly publicized because there is no profit to be made from doing it.

You know those aren't the facts. It's bait. We both know it (and Manhdisa if you want more information, I'll help you out: MD Anderson)
But prostate cancer isn't the only thing one may find on a digital rectal exam...right?
Anal cancers, rectal cancers are others. Come in as a Level 1 trauma you'll get a DRE--to test for rectal tone--so I'll know if you have a spinal cord injury or bony fragments from a pelvic fracture I should be concerned about.
"Cancer is a condition of the entire body. If you just cut it out, or burn it out, or poison it to death, it will almost always come back."
Wrong. Depends on the type, location, and stage.
"Lifestyle and environmental pollution cause cancer."
Wrong again. Ask Bob Marley. Lifestyle and environmental pollution may play a part in some cancers. Again, it depends on the type of cancer we are discussing. Sunshine anybody??
Could you at least do a bit of homework before posting stuff? Your mockery is based on ignorance. Actually, most of your posts are based on ignorance and misinformation.
Crack a book.
I don't know why my name came out your mouth DMG, however although elementary I thank you for the prostate cancer link. This is the type of discourse that is more becoming of someone who claims to be a physician. Give us fact and counter facts and analysis. It can only add to the richness of these discussions.
I have gotten into it here in discussions of cancer and other diseases, so it is nice to see some references.
My Grandpa Butch has had prostate cancer and it came back TWICE already over the course of twelve years or so. My Grandma Earl had breast cancer the exact same time Grandpa had prostate cancer so they went through radiation treatment together! And when his cancer recurred, so did hers! Real talk. They are both still alive and in relatively good health. But what strikes me is the fact that their cancer was never truly eradicated; it always lurks below the surface itching to make a recurrence. Both of my Grandparents eat sensibly and do what the doctors tell them to do; they are one hundred percent COMPLIANT with doctors' orders.
DMG just this example of my Grandparents should give rise to serious questions about cancer treatment and the origins of their cancer.
I strongly believe that many cancers are due to lifestyle choices, whether we are talking about a poisonous diet, general lack of exercise or even microwaving food. There is ample research from the Eastern Europeans back in the day that microwaves change the amino acid structure in the meat from beneficial form to their cis isomers, which are neurotoxins. I bet if more people simply used HEAT to warm their foods, we'd see less cancer. The fact that it is almost a statistical certainty that one of us will get cancer is bothersome and points to the fact that more research on causal factors and prevention is needed...
Mahndisa,
How old were they when were first diagnosed, and what sort of treatment did they have?
And by the way, of course it's not advanced level stuff, I'm not talking to advanced level people. Not an insult, but you all aren't physicians or scientists, or have a background in biology. The vast majority don't have the foundation to understand anything more advanced. Real talk.
That's bullshit ^^ DMG
That fact that you are a physician or call yourself a "scientist" doesn't give you any more authority than anyone else.
Maybe even less.
Listen carefully.
• Your patients / customers are more sick now than they have ever been.
• Your services fail.
• The people you treat for cancer die at the same rate as the people you don't treat for cancer. They just die more broke.
You don't need to have a "background in biology" (whatever the fuck that means. what living person doesn't?) ... to understand that the Prostrate Exam is a product and the PSA test is the UpSell.
Keep up the good work DV. i learn something new hear each time I visit.
Actually, MOTI it does. I know where, and how all of your chitlins work. So why don't you give it a rest. Knucklehead.
DMG your response is very weak. Saying we all aren't experts might be true, but providing a link a five year old could understand hardly qualifies you to be seen as an expert!
There you go trying to save face and toss insults even if tacitly. What a shame. Why can't you just stick to delivering facts and analysis?
Mahndisa,
You know very well why I provided a link to MD Anderson, as is one of the premier institutions in the World for cancer treatment. You pretend that you have advanced knowledge in anatomy and physiology...toss in a few SAT words, but in the end you still have no idea what is being discussed.
Why don't you quit following me around...it's obvious you are trying to instigate a rematch...or more precisely a match.
I've told you before, I'm not interested in talking to you.
It's simple. You are annoying, and you don't even have entertainment value for me anymore.
Shoo.
