HONESTLY... What's The First Thing Pops Into Your Mind When You See This Image?

1. not an entirely believable job of model casting with that couple and those kids - though the two kids could be siblings.

2. daddy need to get on baby girl's head with a brush, a comb, and some ultra-sheen..., little boy could use a good greasing and brushing too, or better still a good haircut cause that head's starting to look a little crispy around the edges too.

Reason you know the model casting was wack, dad been in a stocking cap and got his stuff trained and laid down in in little wavelets - while mom just as weaved and processed as she can be.

chirrens look like they've been wandering in the kalihari desert for three weeks without comb, brush, or grease...,

Americas perception of the idea middle class black family!

CNu said...

Quite often, "bi-racial" chirren have a parent or parents deprived of the traditional, healthy, old-school handling of Black hair.

Dad needs to get on that head, work with it, and put it into attractively coifed, and decoratively beaded doodoo braids.

doodoo braids are the truth for little Black girls - accept no frizzed-out, split-ended, dry-as-a-chip, and unspeakably nappy substitutes...,

LOL the little girl's hair just looks like it was washed right before the pic and they haven't gotten around to doing it yet.

Speaking of which, where's The Good Nurse??? I broke down and permed my hair!!! :( It was just becoming too much work and I'm too busy for the transition right now.

What an adorable family! I wonder if my Enabran will look like the little boy in time.

What is all this talk about hair textures and all that? How is that relevant?

and I love babygirls' hair but it could benefit from a lot more moisture and if the parents would twist it at night for sleep it would maintain it's curl pattern during the day....

Niggers.

TGN, I cut it pretty short when I permed it so that I can just let it grow out without having all of that long permed hair to deal with when the natural hair starts coming in. so I think this time will be easier. But I will definitely contact you once I get around month 3 or 4 because that's the month that broke me this time around. Thanks!

The same thing I think about when I look at my own grandchildren.

What kind of future will they have growing up in a collapsed society.

I see real young white children (10-12 year olds) firing automatic rifles at the shooting range.

While we're combing, braiding, or straightening hair, we'd better be thinking about survival.

Such a beautiful family!

TGN, after humidity hits natural hair it looks just like that! Even after twisting it in at night :)

IMS...my hair is natural. I cannot say i have that issue. Do u?

Agree wit Cnu.

Bad casting job.

Those kids did not come from either of those people.

Light skinned AND nappy headed?!

That's gotta suck.

Well, ok, first thoughts.

All American Family. Greeting Card Family. Something like that.

The black is for the gun in my palm
and the green is for the charm that grows natural,

I say that to say this: That little girl's head is gangsta as a mutha. Love the fro. A'ight, it might need a shape up, but it's still tight.

And Pink-- STEP AWAY FROM THE LYE! Repeat, step AWAY from the Lye. Seriously, you could cause some *ahem* permanent damage to your hair that way.

I know Doc :( I was doing so good too, but I broke down! I have too big of a head to rock a short fro so I couldn't just cut the perm out and handling 2 textures on one head is a lot of work.

I questioned whether it was a real family or not. Too pretty.

And I love that girl's hair. I refuse to let me daughter perm, but she won't rock it in a big Afro like she used to. Man, the war for positive self image is tough, even in the healthiest of households.

The first thing I thought of is:

"This is why I like dem chocolate girls! Where as dem bright yella girls are pretty in a lot of cases - the frizzy hair is a turn off.

I like sistas that come from a long history of using the hot comb on the stove.

DV - can we get a veron waters moment up in here to address the just insane levels of coonery that your boy coonstructive feedback exhibits?

Seriously.

Greg Gumbel? You crack me up, DV.

LOL.

I thought you'd get a kick out of that.

KCNulan - I grew up with women who sought out natural gas powered stoves for the purposes of heating their hot combs.

There WAS NO "I need to go to the beauty salon each week to make my hair appointment". This is a recent advent of the conditioning of the Negro Female.

What about this history is "coonery"?

coonservative feed-on-Black;

My mother and my maternal grandmother were both hairdressers waaaaay back in the day.

Bofe of em went nappy in the 60's.

I grew up with women with enough native intelligence to rebel (albeit very late in life) against the mentally ill habit of putting that merciless hot piece of metal that close to their scalps to defeat a few naps.

I also inherited a panoply of arcane head and hair torture devices going back to the 1920's. The apex of which was a couple of sets of glass electrostatic "scalp vitalizing" combs - which devices are now quite sought after among the BDSM crowd for inflicting pain.

Have had at least one Chambers gas range in every house I've ever lived in, but I use them to cook food, not heads.

Point being coony, I know EXACTLY whereof you speak - and I would no sooner crow proudly over that type of flat-iron inflicted self-mutilation - than I would a child of mine cutting themselves.

Your every utterance evidences the unfortunate fact that you're completely out your unnatural muhphuggin mind......,
