American Virgin
“Temptation is always there, it’s hard everyday, but I made a promise to myself.”
Since she was 13, the singer has worn a platinum “promise ring” — bearing the inscription “True Love Waits” — that her parents gave her, and she plans to keep it on.
“I wasn’t ever forced into [wearing the ring],” she said. “It’s all about making the right choice and not putting yourself in that situation.”

1-in-4 NYC adults has herpes. eeeeuuuwwwwww............,
And 42% amongst Blacks.
Those are NOT good betting odds.
Herpes is the new common cold. And that's just plain scary. Welcome to favela!
She aint gon' be thinking about Herpres or that darn ring when parts get to tinglin'! LOL.
When one of my friends in college showed me her ring like this (our junior year), i hated my dad for a good 3 hours for not giving me one.
She's a great example for young girls everywhere.
I was always told to pick my friends more carefully than I pick my fruit, intimate friends even more carefully than that.
Back in the day, when I had my peak run of promiscuity - before I got married - I adhered to that rule by keeping several on the hook simultaneously and carefully scrutinizing each one over the course of several weeks (sometimes longer) before taking the plunge.
The thought of playing permanent host to an alien parasite living at the base of my spine - and periodically erupting through mouth or genitals - was sufficiently horrifying to me that it served as a strong inducement to be clinically cautious.
When those dumbassed herpes drug commercials come on teevee nowadays, I make a point of reminding my children about the vile parasitization underlying those vaseline lensed commercials for symptom suppressing "medication".
Damn CNu.
You a writin' muhfuggah.
I just about fell to my knees and thanked almighty I don't have ... whatever it was you said ... at the base of my spine.
Yuck.
Kalena!
That's deep. I'm going to remember that with my daughter.
You seemed, on some level, to hold your father responsible for setting you on the proper course of sexual resource management.
I've often thought we would be better off if we were encouraged to value our sexual resources as much as we value our FICA scores.
Robyn,
On that ... "tingle".
As something of a "tingle" expert ... I realize now ... in 20 years of moist draws retrospect - that the only thing that can really balance out that tingle - is faith.
Not just faith in a blind deity - but faith in the fact that resisting that tingle now - will lead to GREATER PLEASURE - later.
When our religious faith was sabotaged, many things fell.
It's much worse than that brah..., we just gettin started on the kwestin of parasitization and G.O.D. or genetic omni-dominance.
How xactly is it that the insidious herpes virus is transmitted?
Through.sexual.contact
Do a quick search on parasitization and ethology.
Is it in the interest of the herpes virus to induce its host to engage in promiscuous sexual activity?
It resides permanently at the furthest tip of your nervous system, in the cauda equina, adjacent to what Jasai would tell you is the locus of kundalini or sexual energy.
I'm just sayin...., you think about herpes for a minute or two, and it becomes quickly apparent that you're not looking at innocuous superficial "cold sores" and "fever blisters" - rather - we're talking about sheer moral, biological, and genetic horror of Lovecraftian proportions rooted in the deepest and most critical areas of your organism.
Okay Cnu. That's just nasty. Point made.
LOL at moist drawls retrospect, DV.
I hear you, I just like to add a moderate dose of "what really happens" to add some color to yalls musings about the perfect world.
...and just cuz I'm a little antagonistic at times....
I read a story (admittedly in a tabloid) that Jordan supposedly got engaged a few weeks back to some new flame of no more than a few months.
LMAO! True love indeed. Or perhaps that tingle got to be too much to resist.
Robyn,
I don't think you herrrrrd CNu.
That shit is deep.
The brother is acknowledging the probability that the herpes virus is not merely a biological pathogen but quite possibly a hallucinogen and a behavior modifier that makes people FUCK PEOPLE THEY SHOULDN'T BE FUCKING.
Peep the incorporation of Kundalini Yoganini in his thesis.
If what he says is anywhere near the truth - that's fucking revolutionary.
A virus that attacks your body and your mind. What's left a virus that attacks your body, mind and soul?
Startin' to sound like what Jesus was rapping about.
Yeah, I missed that.
Whoa!
A virus that attacks your body and your mind. What's left a virus that attacks your body, mind and soul?
AIDS??
Herpes Simplex - sheer, moral, horror.....,
Herpes and the HIV - overlapping epidemics
Herpes Attacks the Brain - in some of its most ancient and sensitive loci
CNu,
What's all this mean?
Is Herpes simplex virus the embodiment of the anti-Christ?
Let's hedge our bets DV, and just call it a "vampiric" embodiment.
Under the right circumstances, as you can see from the wiki article, it's perfectly capable of killing in very gruesome ways on its own, but that's definitely a sub-optimal outcome from its evolutionary "point of view".
I don't know how to explain it to you brah, but I have ALWAYS personally, instinctively, found it to be an exaggeratedly horrible thing, and have always behaved accordingly.
When I read those statistics, only two words came to mind;
"CLEANSING FIRE"
I went on a pentecostal rant at the dinner table y'day that had my peeps in stitches, replete with flaming swords, vindictive seraphim, and the cleansing fie-er of jeezus...,
BTW, you know society is f'd when 17-yo girls get headlined as circus freaks for being virgins and must "struggle" to stay that way.
Gee, why doesn't she just start touring in the circus with the bearded lady...
Step right up folks - and see the *gasp* 17-yo VIRGIN GIRL!!!!!!
GOD BLESS FEMINISM!
Before feminism, being a 17-yo virgin girl was not only NORMAL, but even EXPECTED.
