American imperialism is constructed and continues to operate on a foundation of warsocialist corporatism.

Corporatism is the common bond and glue uniting the imperial and the hegemonic aspects of the American way of life. Hegemony is usually understood to mean the one-sided ability to influence others. In contrast to an empire, which actually has formal political control over the affected territory, the hegemonic power merely has the power to influence events.

Since the decline of conventional imperialism, hegemony has been revived as the organizing principle of international relations. The advent of mass media in the 20th century allowed for a further evolutionary advancement in the global scale implementation of dopamine hegemony, or governance via desire.

Any analysis which fails to take these all-encompassing structural mechanisms into account is fragmentary, ahistorical, and intrinsically counterproductive.
