RON PAUL - A TRUTH MACHINE - On The Ridiculousness Of Racism

RON PAUL
“Libertarianism is the enemy of all racism. Because racism is a collectivist idea that puts people in categories.

You say blacks belong here and whites here and women here.

You don’t have rights because you are gays or women or minorities. You have rights because you are an INDIVIDUAL. So we see people as strictly as individuals. It’s exactly opposite of all collectivism and it’s absolutely anti-racism.

BILL MOYERS
Do you think your views have been misunderstood?

RON PAUL
Purposely by those who get nervous about what I say.

Some liberals will say – we like him on Foreign Policy, but on welfare … we like our welfare.

Today when you have a currency crisis, and the dollar crashes, everybody goes broke.

The dollar is weak because American production is less competitive than in the past.

It is less competitive because our large corporations are taking advantage of lower costs elsewhere.

Large corporations have always divided nation against nation, Black against white, native-born against immigrant, old against young.

By telling people to ignore groups, he is telling us to never defend ourselves by forming unions.

Eh either way you go you have a problem...

When labor unions were first formed in the American auto industry, there was a legit reason, the executives were screwing over the unions for their hard work, having the workers in factories that were not clean and safe, and for all this for pennies on the dollar.

Today labor unions are screwing the american auto maker over, meanwhile japanese companies have set up shop over here without unions and actually pay similar wages as unionized american companies. Meanwhile americans are buying up japanese cars.

Individual vs The Group.....as it relates to black people

Black people viewed themselves as a group in the past because of realities like slavery and the struggle to ontain civil rights in the U.S.

Today however the view that black people are "one group, one people" has in my opinion undermined the success of black people.

If you look at white people for example nothing stopped them for making rock or jazz music even though black people invented those genres, it didn't stop an eminem from going to an all black rap event and simply trying to outperform others. It didn't stop Robin Thicke or Justin Timberlake from making R&B records and even accepting awards at all black awards shows. That is because they are looking at the individual as being greater than the group. White people may be viewed as corny and lacking rhythm. But as an individual, they can do whatever they want.

Black people on the other hand have mentality that the group is greater than the individual and it undermines the success of individual black people. We have the belief that black people only do..."certain things"(or as I call it predestined roles) and anything else is not black. The black guy who wants to be an athlete, entertainer or musician is cool. But the black guy who wants to be a corporate lawyer, nuclear physicist or software developer is not black, and then you have people like DV calling you a "plantation negro". This is because DV himself believes in these predestined roles for us.

So what we have is a situation where white people are invading things we do, and yet we don't even attempt to invade things they do...because thats not what we do...

So the black man who wants to be a rapper is cool, but the black man who wants to be a nuclear physicist is seen as "fighting the white man's war" or something to that effect...

All we have done really is marginalized our own abilities.

I want to see a black guy who plays hockey, surfs , skateboards....all that stuff and is the best at it

I think these discussions fit in very well with discussions have been had on another blog...

Interestingly enough I recently met a black man who has been hang gliding for the past 30 years. We really get along because he is like me, we won't let black people enslave in our minds and limit our possibilities. He is an advanced instructor and one of the best hang gliders on the east coast and has trained and instructed hundreds of people.

Imagine if Arthur Ashe said "well ya know black people don't play tennis...so I guess I better do something else"

Or imagine is Tiger Woods said "eh, black people aren't supposed to play golf...so I guess I better work on my jump shot"

Unity has undermined black people in my opinion. Unity has lead us to guys like DV calling you a plantation negro if you want to do something different.

It also gives power to white people at the same time. Imagine if Tiger Woods said "THEY won't let me be the best golfer"...We are at a point where there is still racisim. Yet also...at a point where people in general won't deny greatness when they see it.

White people can't deny Tiger Woods is great or Arthur Ashe was great. Or that Barack Obama has some fresh new ideas. Much like black people can't deny they enjoy a little bit of Eminem, Robin Thicke or Justin Timberlake. Or that Steve Nash or Larry Bird are great basketball players.

People still have their beliefs but people won't deny greatness, so really you can do whatever you want.

LOL.

Unity?

There's no such thing.

Loyalty to institutions not loyal to you and subscription to a set of mythology that keeps you enslaved - has led DV to call Plantation Negros - Plantation Negros.

"where people in general won't deny greatness when they see it." TG

Now, that's a good point.

not really unity, but the idea that we should be all unified

The last major denile of greatness that I can think of offhand is where you have two separate baseball leagues, that in itself is a denile of greatness and I'd like to think we are past those times.

Always protect your individuality, of course.

But there are structures which have to be addressed by countervailing power. Let me quote from a letter to the editor to the NY Times which stated this well:

"In “Nightmare Before Christmas” (column, Dec. 22), Bob Herbert writes that “according to the Congressional Budget Office, the after-tax income of the top 1 percent rose 228 percent from 1979 through 2005,” while middle-class earnings remained flat.

These statistics reflect that American society is based upon one principle: free contract. In such a society, bargaining power is everything.

Corporations are ownership collectives. Such collectivism gives corporations enormous bargaining power. That increase for the top 1 percent mirrors the decline of collective bargaining.

Ever since the creation of the limited liability corporation during the time of the Civil War, our society has struggled with this issue. We have to find a way to level the playing field in bargaining arrangements or this country’s experiment with democracy will fail.

It’s no coincidence that the Roman Empire had low taxes, small government, enormous concentrations of wealth and an overextended military at the time of its collapse. Most of history’s epic changes were stewed from such recipes."

Brilliant Anonymous.

If you are going to post like that, you need a nickname.

Good stuff.

TG.

I'm with you on that.

"Unity" is overrated. It's the refuge of intellectually lazy cowards.

A euphemism for Group Think.

A serious question I have for you though DV. What exactly will these non-violent drug offenders do when they get out? Will they simply suck up what little money their families have?

Some will change, but some will sit around and do nothing.

So DV I'm asking your thoughts on what exactly will happen when all these non-violent drug offenders are released.

We have someone who married into our family who is a pothead, he doesn't do anything, always between jobs, always trying to "get the band back together"...I'm like look you're a 47 yr old man, your little jazz band thing DIDN'T WORK OUT, GET OVER IT. I swear if my aunt didn't make 6 figures+ they would be fucked. Sometimes he'll just randomly disappear and so on.
I mean seriously DV the type of man you want to see out of prison isn't exactly the type of man who could be a great father anyways.

How will the man you want to see out of prison be able to build strong families?

Serious Question

1) Justice will be served.
2) Justice will be served.
3) Justice will be served.

It makes as much sense to incarcerate "pot heads" as it does to incarcerate obese people.

I've got a fat cousin TG. She has a job, but she misses many days from work, all paid for by "workmen's comp" of course. She claims she hurt her knee walking down a flight of steps at work.) She consumes about $350 worth of drugs a month to manage her slew of diet related diseases. She eats prodigious amounts of pork and never exercises.

If, we listen to people like you and imprison all those whose lives are not in perfect order, where do we stop?

Imagine a '0' Tolerance Fat Law.

30 pounds overweight? High percentage body fat? Diabetes risk? Drain on the health-care system. Drain on economy. Influencing children to live an obese lifestyle?

15 to 20 years in federal prison.

TG, do we throw 3 million alcoholics in prison too?

Why not?
