P ... I'm damn near embarrassed at the extent of my anticipation for this show.

It's the best written, best acted show in the history of television.

I spent my summers in the alleys of East Baltimore from the time I could walk, that sing song slang runs through my blood. The broken glass, the row houses, the amazing complexity of African-American street philosophy. They nailed it.

My boys in Brooklyn have had bootlegs of the entire season for about 3 weeks now.

They are going crazy.

If my wife wouldn't throw a brick at me, I'd go downstairs right now and watch it on ON DEMAND.

I hear you DV. I spent my summers as a kid in Frederick, MD at my Great Grandmother's house. All I did was sit on her front steps (row house) in amazement, and observe the drama. It was fascinating. I'm sure Baltimore is not like small Frederick, but I see a lot of similarities in The Wire. The show is authentic right down to that distinct accent people from that corner of the world have.
