The house is quiet. Which is strange. But if aint broke, don't fix it. I'm stretched out on the couch watching Tiger trying to sink a 20 footer on the 17th hole. Wife at Trader Joes. Kids upstairs reading. All is well in the world. Peace. Until ...
Piercing blood curdling scream from the kids bathroom.

You gotta defend your little girl, but I know you wanted to fall over laughing. That was a hilarious story!!
YES!!!!!!!!!!
the joy of parenting!
p.s.
that small boy is gon' be the death of ya'll.
"Don't cry daddy" haha I LOVE IT! TOO CUTE!
i love that your daughter believes in her little heart that you feel her pain to the extent you'll cry for her. that's huge! so awesome!
Wow. Thanks Kalena. I didn't think about it like that. That's interesting.
I must admit, I was completely prepared for my sons. But this daughter thing is a surprise at every turn.
We are tight, but in a way very different from the way she is tight with her mother. We have a very male / female relationship.
It's important to her that I like her little outfits and say something about her hair. She enjoys making me stuff to eat (she claims she made it, but I know her mother made it).
She is also conscious of the fact that I'm hard on her brothers, (spankings when they fight or don't listen to their mother) but rarely even raise my voice to her.
In return, she rarely acts up with me.
Now her mother on the other hand ... they go at it.
Women ... a trip.
YES! you've got it, DV!
Dad's get so caught up in worrying about what to do with their daughters and really, it's so simple: Let her see you be a man, require her to be a lady and enable her to be a natural (young) woman.
My first date was with my dad. He brought me a flower, opened my door, and pulled out my chair. I was twelve. That's the way it should be.
Funny you should mention her mother. Yes. Women are a trip. My mom still doesn't get it :-) I just want to tell her "He's just DAD, i can't explain it"
but i'd never say that.
Oh my god. I have tears in my eyes. The boys are clearly some characters. They rightfully dodged a beatin' that day on account of their creativity and the plain humor of it all. The unwritten rule when I was young was that if you made a parent laugh, you werent in trouble anymore.
Bravo to all of Kalena's comments!! You on point today girl.
..I'm waiting on a member of the new wave parenting coalition to come a make a remark about the spanking....lets see how long it takes.
i beat my kid's ass. the boy and the girl so that comment couldn't be in reference to me.
nope not you Jasai. Actually, I wasnt referring to anyone in particular, I just recalled there being a no-spanking sentiment here and/or on TSO in the past.
BTW. good for you. Kids need their asses beat every now and again.
