this actually reminds me of the time when rapping was about having fun with the beat and rhymes.
i don't like the song though. The beat is too west coast for my personal taste because it clashes with his voice and his rhymes. whoever produced it should have given it to Game?
I'm not sure what you mean about east coast/west coast is over because although is definitely dominating the airwaves right now, artists from NY, Philly and Cali are still putting out music that has a distinct sound for their respecive coasts/regions. about the beat, i mean west coast as in it has a very west coast sound to it, like a throwback DJ Quick song or something.
Kalena you right about that. The beat aint far off from what the West Coast has done from time to time.
However, the West Coast is really just an extension of the South. Damn near every black person in CA can trace their people back to Texas, Louisiana or Arkansas.

"There was of course no way of knowing whether you were being watched at any given moment. How often, or on what system, the Thought Police plugged in on any individual wire was guesswork. It was even conceivable that they watched everybody all the time. But at any rate they could plug in your wire whenever they wanted to. You had to live—did live, from habit that became instinct—in the assumption that every sound you made was overheard, and, except in darkness, every movement scrutinized."

The founders of the American state understood that the proper functioning of a democracy required an educated electorate. It is this understanding that justifies a system of public education and that led slaveholders to resist the spread of literacy among their chattels. But the meaning of "educated" has changed beyond recognition in two hundred years. Reading, writing, and arithmetic are no longer sufficient to decide on public policy. Now we need quantum mechanics and molecular biology. The knowledge required for political rationality, once available to the masses, is now in the possession of a specially educated elite, a situation that creates a series of tensions and contradictions in the operation of representative democracy.

Soteria, the beat is the best part.
this actually reminds me of the time when rapping was about having fun with the beat and rhymes.

oh. Polow Da Don. Not a west coast producer. he must be trying something new.
Kalena,
This is about as South as South gets.
East Coast / West Coast is over.
I thought I would never say this, but the south is generating the most innovation and social commentary in Rap right now.
Lil Wayne is an extension of both Paul Lawrence Dunbar and Baldwin.

Very interesting about lil wayne. i concur.
i meant although the south is dominating airwaves
Okay, i put my finger on it. IMO the funky bassline and the timing of the clap make me think of Mack 10, Ice Cube, Dub C not Rich Boy. That's just me.
Kalena you right about that. The beat aint far off from what the West Coast has done from time to time.

Ah Looka Here
Them 3 words say a thousand things
Dv,
correction:
"Just left New York city, hooked up wit Diddy, finna BLOW past Fiddy. you gon have ta WIPE ME DOWN!"
is as south as south gets
but yeah, any time a sentence starts out with, contains or ends in 'ah looka here', you know some straightening is getting done lol
"Just left New York city, hooked up wit Diddy, finna BLOW past Fiddy. you gon have ta WIPE ME DOWN!"
Damn
That's more south than "fixin'"
