Abū ʿAlī al-Ḥasan ibn al-Ḥasan ibn al-Haytham (Arabic: ابو علي، الحسن بن الحسن بن الهيثم, Persian: ابن هیثم, Latinized: Alhacen or (deprecated) Alhazen) (965 in Basra - c. 1040 in Cairo) was a Persian or Arab scientist and polymath. He made significant contributions to the principles of optics, as well as to physics, anatomy, astronomy, engineering, mathematics, medicine, ophthalmology, philosophy, psychology, visual perception, and to science in general with his early application of the scientific method. He is sometimes called al-Basri (Arabic: البصري), after his birthplace in the city of Basra. He was also nicknamed Ptolemaeus Secundus ("Ptolemy the Second") or simply "The Physicist" in medieval Europe. Alhazen wrote insightful commentaries on works by Aristotle, Ptolemy, and the Greek mathematician Euclid.

In order to understand, the seeker must be knowledgable of the subject matter.
In order to be knowledgable of the subject matter, the seeker must spend time studying not only the basics to gain a foundation, but advanced topics to gain sufficient depth of knowledge.
I believe Abū ʿAlī al-Ḥasan ibn al-Ḥasan ibn al-Haytham would agree....as he put in the time necessary in mathematics, physics, etc.

When not limited by ourselves or allowing others to limit us humans are endowed with the ability to, and are extremely capable of engaging (studying) creation. This does require due diligence and labor; however, we are all born with the same potential for understanding and greatest.
Every worthy aspect of this life requires labor: loving, marriage, copulation, child-birth, raising children, growing food, harvesting food, teaching, learning, etc.
It can be reduced down to our intentions which feed our goals. In the efforts required to reach our goals we have to strive, as if in a race (toward all that is good). And if you're composed of anything resembling a real man or woman, after the completion of your immediate task you will still labor hard! As a result a thorough understanding and the attainment of knowledge is within anyone's reach. We only have to ask ourselves whether we are willing to put in the work. The testimony of time suggest that most are not.
