"The seeker after truth does not simply believe in any old consensus: he checks"
— Abū ‛Alī al-Ḥasan ibn al-Ḥasan ibn al-Haytham
Abū ʿAlī al-Ḥasan ibn al-Ḥasan ibn al-Haytham (Arabic: ابو علي، الحسن بن الحسن بن الهيثم, Persian: ابن هیثم, Latinized: Alhacen or (deprecated) Alhazen) (965 in Basra - c. 1040 in Cairo) was a Persian or Arab scientist and polymath. He made significant contributions to the principles of optics, as well as to physics, anatomy, astronomy, engineering, mathematics, medicine, ophthalmology, philosophy, psychology, visual perception, and to science in general with his early application of the scientific method. He is sometimes called al-Basri (Arabic: البصري), after his birthplace in the city of Basra. He was also nicknamed Ptolemaeus Secundus ("Ptolemy the Second") or simply "The Physicist" in medieval Europe. Alhazen wrote insightful commentaries on works by Aristotle, Ptolemy, and the Greek mathematician Euclid.

...but in order to check, the seeker must be able to understand.
In order to understand, the seeker must be knowledgable of the subject matter.
In order to be knowledgable of the subject matter, the seeker must spend time studying not only the basics to gain a foundation, but advanced topics to gain sufficient depth of knowledge.
I believe Abū ʿAlī al-Ḥasan ibn al-Ḥasan ibn al-Haytham would agree....as he put in the time necessary in mathematics, physics, etc.
He wasn't some random moron with access to the "Google" of the day.
good morning Doc!
lol! i can tell too tgn!!
how did we know?????
...but in order to check, the seeker must be able to understand.
uh ... dufus
when one is educated one has the capacity to understand anything.
It's you morons who have been TRAINED and not educated who must rely upon what you are TOLD.
Which is exactly why you MD's are killing as many people each year as you help.
Which is why you sling drugs for big corporate pharmaceutical companies that ultimately harm your patients.
DMG. You are bitter because you come here and realize how poorly educated you are even after 20+ years of Plantation Schooling and over $100,000 of debt.
But you come back because real education is invaluable.
I'm going to have to start charging your monkey ass to make you appreciate it.
Sista Nurse!
Try not to laugh at my man.
His entire worldview has crumbled. He wants to be here but is ashamed.
He shouldn't be. He's my brother and it's all love.
(But that bitchy angry spiteful sorry ass attitude needs to go)
When not limited by ourselves or allowing others to limit us humans are endowed with the ability to, and are extremely capable of engaging (studying) creation. This does require due diligence and labor; however, we are all born with the same potential for understanding and greatest.
Every worthy aspect of this life requires labor: loving, marriage, copulation, child-birth, raising children, growing food, harvesting food, teaching, learning, etc.
It can be reduced down to our intentions which feed our goals. In the efforts required to reach our goals we have to strive, as if in a race (toward all that is good). And if you're composed of anything resembling a real man or woman, after the completion of your immediate task you will still labor hard! As a result a thorough understanding and the attainment of knowledge is within anyone's reach. We only have to ask ourselves whether we are willing to put in the work. The testimony of time suggest that most are not.
dv!
hey my brudah!
it is all love. and there is no need to be ashamed..no condemnation here...only reconciliation!

tgn...
Nicki Nicki Tembo...really feeling that statement. Would you mind if a brother "borrowed" it and put it on blast?
@ D.Smith , is blast a good thing? Im so lame...
one must recognize ones limitations of what one thinks one KNOWS
then one sees the unlimited potential in all things
Nicki, I like it.
So, who here is ready to put in the work required to understand?
Who is content reading stuff he found on "PrisonPlanet" and other random websites?
Nikki, It's definitely a good thing.
