Head’s lawsuit also alleges Berke and Marilene Wang, doctors at the UCLA Medical Center, racially discriminated against Head. Head claims that Wang, who is his supervisor at the Department of Veteran Affairs, referred to him as an “affirmative-action hire” and restricted his career opportunities, according to the complaint. Brown said Head also received reduced pay and clinical hours.
Wang and Berke declined to comment.
Head and his attorney have not received messages from the university and do not know how it plans to proceed, Brown said.
Whether the matter goes to court depends on how the university chooses to respond, he said.
Dr. Wang is bringing heavy funding dollars and research subjects to the table.
Dr. Head is simply on the payroll - and bringing no institutional fame, glory, access, or cheddar.
They want Head out of there, and, the UC Chancellory is backing their harsh play, because it too wants Head out of there - because from their collective perspective, he's not pulling his weight sufficient to become a tenured faculty member.
They should've phugged with him for eating pork and having a cul de sac on his dome instead of going for the race-monkey angle - which is what opened them up to this lawsuit.

The term that I use is "Racism Chasing".
After years of being in the corporate world I have sat in several "Just Between Us Chickens" racial grievance sessions. I listen rather than contribute because I began to see that it was more for amplification of missery rather than conscious development.
I was distressed to see a BLACK SALES MANAGER grieving about a White Secretary who he believed was a RACIST. Despite the fact that he made no less than 4 times the money as she did and had no less than 10 people reporting to him THIS RACIST WHITE LADY was a worthy threat.
If you asked anyone else in the place they'd say that she was merely a BITCH. If you gave her some work and she felt she was dumped upon - her crappy attitude would come out.
The real question is: What about HIM caused this woman to be such a threat? Clearly his relative power and compensation in the corporate power structure could not overcome his inferiority in the racial domain.

Indeed the only way to analyze this situation with Black people is to look at this from a PSYCHOLOGICAL perspective.
There are some unmet needs within many Blacks that some people seek to acquire through affirmation from White people.
The fact that we have not developed sufficient community level infrastructure to employ people within our communities - there is little chance that any of this is going to change in the next 90 years.
Apparently he is one of those exceptional Negroes that endured levels of humiliation that others where unwilling to tolerate. That has been his strategy to obtain his spot. If Head had put the same or greater levels of effort into his work, doing research, cranking out proposals, bringing in the funding - that he's put into creating a lawsuit to try and compel these serious and seriously harsh people who want him to go away to instead magically like him - then he wouldn't be in this predicament.
The only thing that matters at that level of engagement is "what did you do for us lately", and if the online accolades for Head accurately reflect his institutional contributions, then he isn't doing anything except showing up and taking a paycheck.
Start his own hospital? C'mon DeeVee - THAT would never happen. Most Negores are only concerned with two things; 1) Appearing to be better than the Negoe standing next to him. 2) Seeking to be 'just as good' as white people.
Starting ones own would mean that he'd have to take a short-term loss of status to make a long-term gain. Negroes motivated by their titles will always be kept in check.
