I saw Prince when this aired live and he came off like a fool.
I wcouldn't file this under "credible celeb".

Fool?

The man is addressing the obvious spraying of mysterious chemicals all over the nation.

What's foolish about that?

If you know of any man in America speaking of anything less foolish than that ... post a link.

Hey DV,

You said: The man is addressing the obvious spraying of mysterious chemicals all over the nation.

I said: He should also be addressing the mysterious chemicals all over his scalp(relaxers).lol

But seriously, Dick Gregory is ONE OF THE BLACKEST MEN ON THE PLANET. Great vid.

I just downloaded "raspberry beret"... (daddy said it was on the radio when I was born but I take that to mean the day I was conceived ;).. to my phone.

I loooooooove this man. There really is no black man more spiritually connected, without being uninteresting and lame, on the map.
His voice is so soothing and nonabrasive. Lullaby over deep seated message.

I have a friend that told me some of his colleagues went out to dinner with Dick Gregory. They reported that he pulled something out of his jacket to checked the pH levels in his water. They thought it was extreme.

Instead of looking at Gregory like he's crazy, why didn't they consider the extremity of how are water is treated.

Likewise, Prince is not responsible for spraying the atmosphere, he questions people's irresponsibility to not care.

[I have to keep doing a repost. My spelling is atroshus. I mean atrotious. I mean atrocious.]

O. Mahogany, what other man can perform in bikini underwear and not incur the gay label? What other man can spend his career kissing white women and not have his blackness questioned? What other man can compete when MJ was at his career height?

When you download Prince, you're not downloading music, you're downloading incantations.

@MyBooGee

mmyeahhhh, I've often felt in my heart that at most his messages are craftier than man and slippery like the smoothest of snakes...

but at second look this video alone doesn't give much credence to your claim.

Prince's costumes haven't created any ripple homo affects on our community. My father hasn't switched teams listening to The Artist Formerly Known. He made babies and married my mother.

As for kissing white women...I mean you have to kinda be completely black to act completely black soooo...lol

While many of his messages present a care-free, fun, wild, promiscuous time, I draw an underlining mantra for love and lovemaking, passion for music and the joy of life.

But what do I know. I'm an optimist.

"I saw the trails in the sky, and all of a sudden, everybody was fightin'".
Come on dawg.

Nobody's watching this piece and going, "oh, yeah, Prince is up on game, so I gotta check-out this chemtrail thing".

Watch the whole interview.
Whenever he discussed non-music, non-industry stuff, I found his commentary pretty juvenile.

The smartest thing he said was to listen to Mr. Gregory...yes, he sounded foolish.

Anon it's about supporting issues that don't register on the Casey Anthony-Richter Scale not a chemistry course.

I'm not rounding Prince off to the the lowest denominator. I can write a commentary on each one of his songs from the Dirty Mind album to Love Sexy. I'm acknowledging his artistry.

Color-field painter Barnett Newman can place a crude vertical line on canvas and people define it, not as a line on canvas, but a process of "defining spatial structure while both dividing and uniting the canvas blah blah blah." The ability to encourage an audience's intuition in a ready-to-go McMicrowave atmosphere is a powerful talent to wield.

I'm saying Prince can get butt naked in knee-high, high-heel boots, lick his fingers after ejaculating a riff off the neck of his guitar, scream at the top of his lungs and still sisters will define him as passionate, sensitive and shy while brothers will argue he's straighter than the shortest distance between two points. I'm saying that only Prince can artistically pull that off.

^ Lol. yep.

@Anon, I don't find it juvenile at all. Consider the reverse, when you have artists in entertainment (our recent Lupe piece, for instance)going on and on about a political subject and they get no where. Why? because their message is not laced with what makes people listen to them in the first place: Artistry.

If you wanna hear intellectual conversations and definitive arguments, go tune in to CNN and watch Cornel West. After viewing this I did exactly as I was told and watched Mr. Gregory's vid. I think Prince is quite up on game. "The People" Game.
He knows the average artist walks a fine thread in this respect and the average person is simple and driven by theatrics or in this case, mystery.

I noticed prince was up on game when he wrote the lyrics for Ronnie Talk To Russia "...Go to the zoo, but you can't feed guerillas..." on the Controversy album.
Then comes the exposure of Ronald Reagan, Col. North, Robert McFarlane and the mysterious hospitalization of CIA head William Casey.

Any truth to that internet vid where Prince supposedly had a concert before 911 and he started saying, "I gotta go home y'all, cuz' Osama's gon' drop the bomb." And he kept singing this and at the time of course people had no idea what the hell he was talking about?

*Runs to Youtube right quick*

Yeah, this one. Concert was allegedly in 2008.

Quite true Gee Chee. And I would know, I'm an artist. I pull that trick regularly.
