- Pimping Africa for its resources is an extremely old game and the Chinese are cutting in big time; building mines, undercutting western multinational corporations but the result is similar. They are resources currently mined in central Africa that are rare in any other part of this globe. These resources power innumerable electronic devices. If the countries from which these elements are mined would demand a fair market price or jack the prices up to suit their whims, they'd be some of the wealthiest nations in the world bar none! The Chinese, like the West before it, play up the tribal and ethnic differences. And like the West they arm the faction that serves their needs. So...meet the new boss, same as the old boss.

The white supremacist mindset that has created the Anglo-Saxon empire has finally come to turn and shoot itself in the foot. No, the Asians are not treating the African countries any better, but they have a foothold in the resource rich lands while not only is the west shut out politically but of cultural understanding as well.
There are exchanges where students in Africa go to Russia and China to study... are they still subject to the kind of racism that a brother is here? Yes, but it is not as essential to ethnic survival those on the Asian continient as it is in the west, where white men fear being overwhelemed by people of color.
Lacking this fear, the powers of the east has recognized that it isn't personal but business. They are additionally unhindered by thinking of their African colonies as being inhabitied by human beings, seeing them the same way as the elites in the west see their native populations... as a market and a means to an end...
This is ridiculous, Why are the leaders of the African countries selling out and giving in for a piece of papers. They have no moral or any remorse for their fellow citizens. Slaves in the past and slaves in the present,No different. The only thing changed is time. Soon everything will be given up.

Anonymous, you know very well. If they didn't sell their people and resources out, how could they have Beyonce, Usher, Mariah Carey perform for their families? How could they accumulate billions in personal wealth? How could they drop diamonds on supermodels, and hire teams of voluptuous white nurses to minister to them? How could they get people who should know better to corrupt themselves and ingratiate them?
"If the countries from which these elements are mined would demand a fair market price or jack the prices up to suit their whims, they'd be some of the wealthiest nations in the world bar none! "
Correction...the private OWNERS of those mines would be the wealthiest PEOPLE in the world. All that private wealth doesn't necessarily go to the people or the nation.
PHX, sad but true.

Correction. If the countries from which these elements are mined would demand a fair market price or jack the prices up to suit their whims, the U.S. military would bomb the Bejesus out of the country and "occupy" it until a "democratic" government was put in place (that would sign a more favorable agreement).
These countries do not have the power to demand anything, let alone a competitive price for the resources stolen from their lands. Look at all oil-producing countries for proof of that. If they start to produce comparable weapons and military, then perhaps things will change. Until then, they will be slaves kept alive only to the extent needed to extract what the powers-that-be need.

They use method of indoctrination and they must have some heavy influence on them as well as peer pressuring them.
The thing about these African leaders, i think is that they don't care to much because they only serve the country or stay in office for couple years, so i guess they do all the corruption and get all the money before they leave office and than the cycle starts over with a new individual.
Money plays a big role, but also they probably are too scared to pull out the contract they signed with the devil himself.

BigMark,
The idea that "white supremacy" informed the Chinese how to be imperial minded is laughable.
There is a good forum at asiawind that will help you at least get into the mind of the Chinese nationalist that lives abroad.
Also, their purported research into a nanotech superweapon is quite intriguing and alarming.
Thor, if you say a nanotech killer weapon is "intriguing" that means you are an annihilator.
Africans got the "civil rights mentality" worse than Jesse Jackson. They are forever sittin' around waiting on someone to save them - the white man or the yellow man - it don't make a particular difference.
SoloInto,
I said the "research" was intriguing and not the weapon itself. There is no evidence the superweapon actuallly exists.
We have Chinese here in Ghana, and they come with millions of USD of investment.... the Telecom, Oil, and Mining MNC's control the world, not just Africa, ... so it's either we use the West for some of our development projects or China, India etc... It's how that investment is managed that counts... not whether they are Chinese or not.
We are going to sell our resources anyway aren't we?
@ IWonderAsIWanderthe .... perhaps you need to travel a bit in Africa, and see the great things Africans are achieving, before you make such a sweeping statement based on one article. It's easy to sit at your 9 to 5 job and make simplistic statements about Africans. There is a big pool of educated , professional and competent Africans, working to undo the years of damage due to colonialism, civil wars, economic oppression, mismanagement etc And we are succeeding... as they say in Ghana " small small catch monkey"
I can assure you that the Chinese are made to operate within the laws and Investment codes of Ghana, and we do not hesitate to bring to book any Chinese National who does not operate within the confines of Ghanaian law!
How come Africans never knew about the importance of these resources ? Cos Africans are not innovative.
