The pin-up species of global warming, the polar bear, is increasing in number, not decreasing.
Polar bear numbers have surged since hunting was largely banned in the 1970s. When Tim Flannery predicted that polar bears would be extinct within 25 years, he was challenged by Dr. Mitchell Taylor, one of the world's leading experts on Polar Bears from the Canadian federal territory of Nunavut, which covers most of the polar bear's Canadian habitat.
Mitchell wrote in 2006: "Of the 13 populations of polar bears in Canada, 11 are stable or increasing in number. They are not going extinct, or even appear to be affected at present… it is just silly to predict the demise of polar bears in 25 years based on media-assisted hysteria."
“The concern that polar bears will decline if the climate continues to warm is valid. However, the assertion that polar bears will become extinct unless immediate measures are taken to curb greenhouse gas emissions is irrational because it is inconsistent with the long-term persistence of polar bears through previous periods of warming and cooling; and because the IPCC climate model predictions 50 and 100 years into the future do not suggest a future with insufficient sea ice to support polar bears as a viable species. ”

Nah, "media-assisted hysteria" puts the time frame at 100 years not 25.
And also those polar bears your article refers to are those which have a higher chance of survival because they live in more isolated groups as compared to polar bears in Hudson Bay whose reproductive rates are down due to human intervention.
I'll find the link 2mo I'm off to bed, but do you not see what human beings are doing to the planet?Regardless of whatchu believe abt AGW, planet earth's been damaged by human greed.
...peace
Mixing issues Kay Duuub?
Are humans polluting the planet?
Absolutely.
Just as badly as they pollute their bodies.
Man Made Global Warming / Global Tax / Carbon Trading Schemes IS SOME TOTALLY DIFFERENT SHIT.
Don't fall for the head fake.
Instead of playing people for stupid and spending Trillions trying to cool the planet by curtailing production ... why not spend that money cleaning rivers and making poor people viable self-sustaining people inclined not to pollute?
KonWomyn, I totally feel you. As a woman, I feel Mother Nature is grieving. When I stand in front of a waterfall, a rain forest, the open sky, She speaks to me...She is the soul of me. She is suffering.
When a human civilization stops respecting Nature, Her species will start dying. Nature based civilizations do not abuse their life-giving Mother. Profit based civilizations strip the earth of all Her minerals and life.
Perhaps taxing is not the solution. But the world must do something. It makes me so sad. =( The way one treats Nature, is a reflection of the the way one treats all living beings. When a civilization starts loving and respecting Mother Nature, there will be peace...
Its clear that oportunists don't see the planet as a living breathing organism. Given that fact, the data shown here cannot be cast aside. Its clear there is an agenda when facts contrary to the existence of a crisis are unfit for mass consumption, and money rather than behavioral change is inserted as a solution. The same line of thinking has the masses whining about fast food when you should have far more concern and rage about the grocery store products we've been conditioned to trust.
You see more time spent pulling on your heart strings for a reason.
