Jean Michel Basquiat was Hatian?

Jean Michel himself was born in Brooklyn, but his father was from Haiti and his mother was of Puerto Rican descent. The singer Maxwell, I believe his mother was of Haitian descent as well.

I m looking at "Hollywood Africans" on my wall as I write. The things about Basquiat is you had to know him to understand his art or you had to at least know his rules..

Quick example, no time... Crossing a word out would signify more importance than words not crossed out. He used words a lot, and he was very specific about their meaning in relation to a piece. I'd love to pontificate on other aspects of Basquiat the man and what my interpretation of what he meant to the art world at that time DKimberly but Im currently creating my own. But Ill be back tomm. maybe then we can vibe or debate
