So .... Why Wasn't This Woman Arrested Like Chris Brown? Where Is The Rihanna Level "Outrage"?
Big Man said...
Adultery is not heterosexual behavior.
Adultery is a betrayal of a promise and a refusal to control your emotions for a higher purpose.
Yeah, I know that the more choices a man has, the harder it is to be faithful. That doesn't make it right. Tiger failed. He's being punished because he allowed the media and corporations to use his previous successes to sell goods and titillate the masses.

i was thinking the same thing!
Show me photos of Tiger's face looking like Rihanna's and maybe I'll feel a tiny tiny bit sorry for him.
If my husband did what Tiger allegedly did, I'd call the lawyer and based on his/her advice, either pack up the kids or pack Tiger's bags.
Then proceed to give him a beating where it hurt$ the mo$t.
What a moron. I guess it's true, you can't buy brains (or character).
^^ Same IP address as Mike Fisher
This is great! I can write whatever I want and Mike Fisher will be blamed/credited!
This blog is so entertaining. Tho I do miss The State Of.
so just as long as she did not leave any visible marks on his face it was okay for her to beat him with a golfclub? ok. that sounds right.
he's still just a man!
My guess would be that Tiger is not about to talk to the cops and so they have no grounds to arrest her. Tiger won't make a complaint, won't make a statement. I respect him for that.
Logical, if you're trying to patch up your marriage. And the public apology fits right in.
This story is nothing but a distraction. It's a non-story and it pisses me off how the once fawning media suddenly turns on him like piranhas, when they're directed to do so by the government-corporate control complex looking for a way to point away from jobs and prices.
Part of the difference is that the 911 call about Tiger didn't say he was taking a beating. It has been speculated (reasonably, I think) that one of the reasons he is avoiding public sightings is that evidence that he got punched, scratched or clubbed (like the shape of the marks on his face) would be evidence of commission of a crime that would get his wife arrested whether he filed a complaint or not. No evidence of a beating = no arrest.
Of course, the other part of the difference is the fact that society presumes that violence between men and women is the man's fault.
This is one of the reasons why the peasants on the plantation and the media can be far more dangerous than any terrorist or mass murderer. She attacked her husband - whether a case of spousal or not, she's been the heroine from day 1 - first she 'saves' hubby in an accident and then his dirty laundry is aired out and she's awarded prime-victim status and granted immunity by the angry mob who are baying for blood, guts and gory details of his private life.
How does one know she has never attacked him before? Or she is not an abusive lover? No one knows.
And while society is persecuting him for his private indiscretions, they are the same ones approving and glorifying sexual freedom and gender blurring. The same ones consuming every memetic morsel given by Massa from junk food to junk news to junk meds without question. This mental and physical suicide on a genocidal level and ones don't even know.
Such is the tyranny of mediocrity.
The good nurse,
Do we know for a fact that she beat him? I haven't seen that proven anywhere, or addressed much really. What I'm seeing all over the media is photos of and quotes from his "alleged" girlfriends.
No, of course it's not OK for anyone to take a club to a spouse.
You are asking where the outrage is, a la Rihanna ... well, when you saw her face it was easy to get outraged.
The only images illustrating Tiger's alleged fight are those of his "girlfriends."
That's why I said I would do much worse than beat my cheating spouse ... I'd take the kids and whatever assets I could get.
"You wanna act like a single man? Go to it!"
kw,
well said. i wholeheartedly agree.
medium white,
i do not condone infidelity. however, elin has known that her husband was tiger woods for some time now, and the likelyhood of coochie being presented to him like a gift that keeps on giving has been very high. not saying it is ok, but unfortunately this is not new...not for tiger or any man. if that is all it will take for you to leave your husband and remove his children u may want to start packing now....
just saying.
The. police. report. said. the. facial. injuries. were. inflicted. by. Elin. Woods.
It. is. classified. as. a. domestic. issue.
When the police report hit the net over what happened to RhiRhi folks were all over CBreezy calling him a wife beater and worse. Last Saturday a police report says Elin Woods injured her husband and someone's asking for pictures as evidence - Lol!
"The. police. report. said. the. facial. injuries. were. inflicted. by. Elin. Woods.
Last Saturday a police report says Elin Woods injured her husband"
Do you have a source for that?
I ask because I hadn't caught up with that revelation yet.
Last I had read, the local police seem to have officially taken the wife at her word about what happened. And the Florida highway patrol hasn't talked to either Woods, and doesn't seem to know what happened.
They're saying that it's not a domestic issue.

If the police had really concluded that Mrs. hit Mr. and did not arrest her, that would deserve some extra attention.

I just hadn't seen that they'd reached that conclusion.
I hadn't seen that either KW.
Just speculation, but I agree that there is a double standard.
However, life is full of double standards. Gotta pick your battles.
KonWomym,
A. Charles beat me to it. The last I'd heard/read, the police were going to charge him for reckless driving, then dropped it.
I hadn't heard anything about the police blaming Elin for his injuries. I thought that was just some tabloid rumor. In fact most of what I've read about this case is what I've read on this blog.
So the original question is "where is the Rihanna-level outrage?" I guess, for me, it's hard to get too sympathetic for someone with the power (financial and physical), status and adulation Tiger has. I need to feel sympathy or empathy for him to feel "outrage," as I did for Rihanna. She has money, no question about that, but power? Certainly not the physical power of Chris Brown, not in that fight.
I see Tiger as the bully. Mr. $100 million, Mr. I-cheat-with-multiple-women, despite having a baby and toddler at home. Their power is so unequal.
But back to the photos -- does the man have a few scratches on his face or did she wail on him with a club? That makes a big difference too. Chris Brown wailed on Rihanna and choked her. If Elin smacked him in the head with golf clubs I would likely change my mind about who the abuser is in the story.
The good nurse,
If you believe the news stories, Tiger's infidelities are far beyond a "mistake." This is chronic, multiple, ongoing. Wives get what they settle for. It will be interesting to see if Elin sticks around.
A. Charles et al
Oops, my bad guys. I re-read the story in The Guardian and y'all are right, I had mis-read - it was a source and not the police who'd said his injuries were caused by the wife.

Despite his infidelity I do feel sorry for Tiger Woods. Party because of the image of himself all along and also because there's been a total invasion of privace. This is why I disagree with BigMan's statement upthread that Tiger 'titillated the public' - he's always tried to project a good image and his philandering was on the down low till now.
I don't think Woods is a bully simply because he has $. A cheater - yes and downright lousy for doing so, but a $ bully no. Depending on their marital agreement, wifey could file for divorce and have power overnite. No way will she walk away with nothing; the alimony will cost him enuff. Rite along with all the other people he's gotta pay off to keep his bizness quiet.
I think when you're the best golfer to ever step on the course, some allowances should be made. In actuality I think it's Ok that he "cheated". Equality for equals. Not equality for all.
The peasant he put on as wife is going to stick around for a $5 million lump sum today, and $75 million two years hence.
The peasant side pieces, are going to clam up for $1 million a piece.
As I said some time ago, putting peasants in these positions will lead to penury. {or in the case of Eldrick - a major temporary dent in profits}
