Do you think that anyone who spends $600 for these shoes have any right to complain about misalignment of societal resources by the government which allows their people to suffer in inferior schools and want for health care?

CF,

It's not often that we are in agreement...anyone who spends $600 ON A PAIR OF SHOES, but can't make a rent payment or complains about having to hustle to make ends meet, or uses as an excuse for participating in illegal activities that "they got babies to feed" needs (in my opinion) to STFU and get their priorities straight.

For that matter anyone who spends $600 on a pair of high tops who ISN'T playing pro ball, but still has the nerve to complain about their taxes going up over Universal Health coverage also needs to STFU...in my opinion of course.

Conspicuous consumption is the bane of the black community. Everybody wants to look fly...but have little to nothing in the bank.

Well actually I agree with DMG, but disagree with CF. Buying $600 shoes with *private funds* is one thing does not diminish one's right to criticise the govt's misspending *public funds*. Whether $6 or $6billion the govt has misappropriated; it still has to be held accountable to its citizens regardless of an individual's private income or credit limit.

all of ya'll missed it.

The skill set to compel someone to pay $600 for a pair of shoes is the operative point of the piece.

I find people who spend $44,000 for coronary artery bypass surgery far more silly than a 20 year old kid with $600 sneakers.

Are conspicuous consumers of clothes and cars any more ignorant than conspicuous consumers of GMO food and vaccines?

Really ....?

Is a 50 year old Corporate Negro with $212,000 squirreled away in a 401K any less of a conspicuous consumer than a 25 year old Thug with $212,000 worth of platinum and diamonds in his teeth?

Really ....?

Easily the most ignorant statement of the month.

Whoops, sorry I guess I didn't read the REST of your post:

"Is a 50 year old Corporate Negro with $212,000 squirreled away in a 401K any less of a conspicuous consumer than a 25 year old Thug with $212,000 worth of platinum and diamonds in his teeth?"

What SKILL is needed? You talk about enslaved mindsets and out of the other side of your mouth laud the "skill set" of compelling someone to buy $20 worth of leather(?) and plastic marked up 2,900%. It's apparent that you aren't dealing with an informed clientele.

No.

Wrong again Doc. The linear limitations of your bourgeois education are becoming apparent.

The $600 Air Yeezy's are part of a larger commentary on the manufacture, distribution and consumption of memes.

What skills are needed? Design and sell a 'DMG Stethoscope' for $60,000 and find out.

No.

Make people WANT a DMG Stethoscope and find out.

I'm chuckling at the self-righteous hypocrisy as you disdain one silly consumerist convention while evangelically endorsing another silly consumerist convention.

Doc ... coronary bypass surgeries are a PRODUCT.

Not health care.

Just like Air Yeezy's are shoes ... not feet.

Ya'll sold over 500,000 of them last year for more than $44,000 a pop.

90% of those CONSUMERS ... will STILL DIE OF HEART DISEASE.

The doctors, patients and corporations participating in that charade aint no bit smarter or wiser or more prudent than any kid with diamonds in his teeth and no bank account.

You are the same.

Stethoscopes only run about $100 for a decent one and any physician shelling out $60k for one would be shunned as an idiot. Any physician designing one and marketing one isn't interested in medicine.

Coronary artery bypass grafting is not a product to be bought on a whim, like a pair of basketball shoes worn by someone...who probably has no intention of shooting hoops in them. Nobody walks into a surgeons office and requests to have a median sternotomy, cannulated, placed on bypass, then have their heart filleted open because chest scars are in fashion. I talk patients OUT of surgery if it's not medically necessary. The liability for entering someones thoracic cavity is not worth the financial gain.

Give it up...your stethoscope envy is wearing thin.
