Keep It Krill ...

People often ask me: "DV. How do you keep such a smooth, chocolate brown, cocoa butta mixed with nutmeg and caramel complexion? Why you so dope? How you get so much game? DV, you just the muhfuggin man. What's your secret?!"

I tell them: Krill Oil!
(And 1,000 years of selective breeding)

There is however a major difference between fish oil and krill oil: in fish oil, the EPA and DHA are present in triglyceride form; whereas krill oil is rich in EPA, DHA and Astaxanthin in a unique phospholipid form.

This unique molecular form gives krill oil a distinct advantage – krill oil EPA, DHA and Astaxanthin are super-easy to absorb and bind directly to our cells to exert their beneficial effects. Best of all, these nutrients are extracted in their purest form as naturally-occurring substances present in krill.

1) BE SMARTER: Krill oil improves mental alertness and focus

Docosahexanoic acid (DHA) and phospholipids are essential nutrients that the brain needs for proper cognitive function and development.

In krill oil, the unique molecular structure of the EPA + DHA + Astaxanthin in phospholipid form enables it to penetrate the protective layer of the brain more effectively, so that more of these nutrients are delivered to the brain than conventional fish oils.

2) LIVE LONGER: Krill oil reduces the risk of heart attacks

Ingesting krill oil reduces the risk of heart attacks: it regulates cholesterol levels, keeps arteries clean and has anti-inflammatory effects that are beneficial to the cardiovascular system.

In Clinical Studies involving patients with high total cholesterol levels, krill oil reduced total cholesterol levels by a staggering 13% more than most conventional fish oils. The results were even more impressive in trials involving patients taking an anti-cholesterol drug together with krill oil, as the reduction in total cholesterol was even greater than when taking the drug alone.

These findings have led physicians in the US and UK to recommend combination therapy as an effective means for patients to maintain healthy cholesterol levels.

3) STAY ACTIVE – Krill oil improves joint flexibility

Osteoarthritis is a condition where the cartilage at the end of the joint wears away. Without the cartilage that acts as a ‘smooth glider’, the ends of the bones rub against each other resulting in pain, joint stiffness and restricted joint movement.

Krill oil contains vitamin E, vitamin A, vitamin D and canthaxanthin, which is, like astaxanthin, a potent anti-oxidant. The anti-oxidant potency of krill oil is such that when compared to fish oil in tems of ORAC (Oxygen radical absorptance capacity) values it was found to be 48 times more potent than fish oil.
4) AGE MORE SLOWLY – Krill oil neutralises harmful free radicals

Free radicals are highly reactive molecules that damage DNA and other biological cells, causing premature ageing of the skin and internal organs as well as serious health problems such as diabetes, heart disease, brain degeneration and cancer.

The antioxidant properties in krill oil are one of the most potent and powerful nature can provide – in tests measuring antioxidant strengths (ORAC values) krill oil has been shown to be 47 times more potent than fish oil, 34 times more powerful than Coenzyme Q-10 and 7.5 times the strength of seaweed Astaxanthin.

Hey DV

How many of these crustaceans does it take to make a bottle or even a capsule of your 'youth elixir'? Krills play a very important part in the ecosystem of the Antarctic and provide food to birds, fish and blue whales, with humans interfering in the food chain and increasing the water temps of the Antarctic there's been a sharp decrease in the krill population.

I understand the benefits it might have, but the costs are great too. I wouldn't use it anyway bec I'm vegan, but the extent to which healthy people go to maintain their lifestyles is something I've always questioned. Its actually made me anti the healthy living/new age trend which is in vogue bec I feel it's kinda elitist. I'm not hating or wateva, but why should living right have a high price tag when life is free? And if living right means being taking care of Mama Earth then it means not bleeding another source dry in order to sustain a human want not a need.

KaaaaaaaY DuuuuuuuB,

How you?

That's a good question. Not sure how many krill it takes to make up a capsule.

But I know that krill are one of the most abundant organisms on earth.

Most humans have never even heard of krill, so I'm a bit skeptical that human consumption is leading to its depletion. But I'm open if you have any more info on that.

That said. Don't get me wrong. I'm not advocating EVERYBODY do what I do. I'm not trying to save the world. I'm just advocating best practices for my family and friends.

People in the US, particularly black people, are dropping dead from degenerative diseases at a faster rate than sub-Saharan Africans are dieing from vaccine triggered AIDS.

Most of of the black American death rate is diet related. Krill oil is an example of a practice that can keep humans healthy.

Get 'em on Krill today ... off chicken tomorrow. So I hope to make up for it on the back end.

Wiki -

In the Southern Ocean, one species, the Antarctic krill, Euphausia superba, makes up an estimated biomass of over 500 million tonnes, roughly twice that of humans. Of this, over half is eaten by whales, seals, penguins, squid and fish each year, and is replaced by growth and reproduction. Most krill species display large daily vertical migrations, thus providing food for predators near the surface at night and in deeper waters during the day.

Except for black men in their late teens, 20s and early 30s.

Then it's bullet related.

UB ... what kills white, Mexican and Asian men in their late teens, 20's and early 30's?

Alzheimers?

Stroke?

Coronary heart disease?

Hey Young Veezey
Keep comin' up with all the diff spellings - that's phresh...I'm gd, rough day but I survived. How u & the fam?

Nah I totally get what you're about - hey, I get knocked all the time for how I live. And 'the price tag on good life' is a question I'm concerned about and I was speaking in a more general sense.

Co-sign on your mission, Bra (just not the krill ; ]) What peops don't realise is that alot of our illnesses are dietary-related and making the leap from processed crap to real food is as neccessary for survival as oxygen.

On krill - I read something on CNN a while back talking abt the depletion because krill was only previously used as food among the Norwegians and Japanese, but now there's been an increase. I can't find the CNN one, but this article says the same and has an interesting graph on the increase in the consumption of fish oils. I also wonder how EU fishing quotas affect marine life; if they over-fish, they chuck 'em back into the sea dead or alive. Do they throw krill back into the sea also? And how much damage does all this re-chucking do to the environment?

...Yea I know, I know better krill than KFC, but really? The sea's dying just as fast as our own people.

...peace
