Funny how 50 years ago, feminism blamed this on "exploitation by patriarchal men."
But now they call the same damn thing "grrrl power" and "female-empowerment."
In reality, there was never any difference.
Look, just because some lady with a lot of plastic surgery calls herself a "feminist" (if she does -- I couldn't play the video so can't verify) doesn't make it true. And "grrl power" has about as much to do with feminism as "being gangsta" has to do with anti-racism. One is a pose adopted by people who are are hoping to get laid. The other is a serious political movement aimed at making people more enlightened, equal, and free.
Everyone's got their own issues, but that's no call to be hatin', right?

Nah, DV this is not a production of feminism(s); rather its a complex rebellion against feminism; an anti-feminist feminism with all the features of an independent, self-made woman, but a highly sexualised, opportunistic woman who will use her body to get ahead. This is the product of the Madonna wannabe generation that plays on the visual as sexual in their desperate search for stardom.
Girlfriend is playing the sexist oppression card for sympathy yet on any other day, she exploits her own sexiness in order to keep the male gaze & $$$ on her. She objectifies herself as the true materialist Material Girl is s'posed to be.
Granted she's hurt, but if Playboy offered her money to strike a pose; would she say no? She makes it rather hard to sympathise with her (tho' I did feel sorry for Jeniffer Love Hewitt.)
More interesting to me from an analytical perspective is how much the Material Girl constructs and how much the male and lesbian (Lindsay Lohan et. al) gaze consumes. And at what point does consumption become wrong & does the Material Girl win out as a victim or is she an instigator crying 'Wolf'? Locating the role of the industry in the production of nude pix is also an important talking point abt plantation power dynamics, IMO.
The industry has created and fed the public's fascination with the celeb body hence making nude pic leaks a cultural fad. Of course there's a benefit for whoever leaks the pix and whoever breaks the story plus Aubrey O'Day also gets alot of mileage out of this too whether she hates or loves it.
