Are The CIA & Al Qaeda One In The Same?

"The first time Osama Bin Laden heard the term 'Al Qaeda' used... was on television. "

The latter is a branch of the former, assuming it even exists.

Al Qaeda means "the base". Arabs don't speak that way and name their groups that way. It is purely a Western choice of name. Look at every other resistance group in the Arab and Islamic worlds and they have names like the martyrs brigade of the islamic revival and stuff like that.

Not "the base".

An interesting note - In Fahrenheit 911, there is clip from a Bush speech in which Bush says to the audience, "some people call you the elite. I call you my base".
