Denver had two matchups vs banged up, outgunned teams with shallow benches and poor interior D which worries me when they meet the lakeshow. They aren't battle tested. Don't let the lil Houston letdown fool you, LA will kick it up a notch and take games seriously when the scent of the Finals gets stronger. The question is whether Denver can sustain their level of play vs LA.
Denver has a shot but the ratings wizards of oz have spoken, come june you'll be watching LA vs Clev.
Lets be clear, I'm not a laker fan by any means and I'll be rooting for Denver. I just expect LA to rise to the level of play of their opponent vs Denver. Their lethargic play and arrogance is dangerous this time of year. The lack of momentum, cohesion and rhythm may bring the lakeshow to their knees if they don't get it together psychologically. The whining and finger pointing will linger.
At the same time the nba isn't too far from WWE so i'm not all that surprised Orlando messed around with Boston and LA messed around with Houston. They made Scola look like Olajuwon and Landry look like the Golden State Webber.
I gotta side with anon on this one, no way LA goes 7 vs. that Houston squad post Yao. Yes Brooks is the real deal and Lowry is a true pro, they have to adjust to a different team but none of that explains 7 games vs the lakers. It just does not compute my friend. Most teams make a point to finish weaker squads whereas LA coasts b/c they've got game 7 at home.
LA fans will front but deep down you gotta find it hard to respect piss poor effort from a team that talented. The best line I've heard is that their effort shows a lack of respect for the league. So much so that even though they are favored to win it all, and probably still will, they don't deserve it.
I'd love to hear Phil's take on this off the record.

The founders of the American state understood that the proper functioning of a democracy required an educated electorate. It is this understanding that justifies a system of public education and that led slaveholders to resist the spread of literacy among their chattels. But the meaning of "educated" has changed beyond recognition in two hundred years. Reading, writing, and arithmetic are no longer sufficient to decide on public policy. Now we need quantum mechanics and molecular biology. The knowledge required for political rationality, once available to the masses, is now in the possession of a specially educated elite, a situation that creates a series of tensions and contradictions in the operation of representative democracy.

I laughed my ass off when I saw this during the game the other day. Great commercial. they kill me with the powder.
As much as I try not to, it's kinda hard not to like lebron.
Kobe gon get that ass though.
Sorry but that's not going to happen because the CELTICS will be in the playoffs!!!!!
Ehh...Pink....sweetheart.
Ahh forget it.
you'll see.
That's one stoopid commercial.
But Kobe and the LA Tankers, with Bynum playing like Kwame Brown will never get past Chauncey, Melo, and KMart.

Anon, if TV can program it we know what the outcome would be.
Surely you are not saying the Lakers have "interior D."
Name one match-up the Lakers know that they are going to win, other than KB vs Melo, and that could go either way on any given night.
LA does not like it physical, and they're getting ready to be beat down like Rod King.
Man, that vaunted Laker D--interior and exterior was really on display last night.
The Laker D is about like the Pacific Coast Highway--evar thang goes thru.

Most of the blame for the demise of the Lakers has be on the Zen Master. Is he still gettin hi?
Zen Phil has 9 rings, but he has lost it as a coach.
KP ... maaaaaaaaaan
I don't know what to say.
Some talented cats in the NBA. Grown ass men.
Ron Artest ... A BEAST. (Hate to have to fight that muhfuggah)
Basketball aint science. Aint nobody SUPPOSED to win anything at this stage. ('cept maybe Cleveland v Atlanta)
Houston is a great team and they are not just going to roll-over and throw their legs in the air.
We'll see today.
That boy Brooks. The point guard on Houston - A BEAST.
That back up point guard. Think his name is Lowry - A BEAST.
Both them cats can start on 90% of the teams in the league.
Too fast.

All I can say.
But watch God's Son do his thing today.

Er, Plato, ol boy, you know less about basketball than you know about the politics of homosexuality.
The Lakers were supposed to crush this team which is playing w/o its two best players.
And the Zen Master has the nerve to make this excuse after losing game 6:
"You know, we're playing with a couple guys who are injured."
Duh, Zen Phil, Houston is playing with Yao and Tracy.
The Zen Master is finished as a coach:

But watch God's Son do his thing today.

yup.
You can tell by how badly bitchy jealous player haters want to crucify him.
Unbridled jealousy is usually a sign a cat may be God's Son.
