Ooh, she's purty. Plus, I have a thing for sistas who wear their hair the way God intended. Why don't more sistas show love to tha fro? Hey DV, what's your thoughts on my theory that these goddam perms is what causes black women's hair to not grow properly. I look at all these photos of women in the 70's with afros as wide as their shoulders. Nowadays you get these poor black girls whose mother's have been chemically nuking their hair since they were 4 (not that they know any better themselves, because in all likelihood it was probably done to them too) and they can barely get that pity pony tail. (You know, the few strands of hair just barely being held by a scrunchie.)

I have to agree with Doc about the relaxers. I went natural about 3 years ago and my hair had never been so healthy or grew so fast. I now rock Locs, but taking that relaxer out of my head was the best thing that I could have done. Every chance I get, I preach to a sister about embracing her natural hair and beauty and gettting away from that European look.

Sure. Natural hair is a good thing. I rock all sorts of different hair styles but most recently I wear a natural. I use this olive oil soap on it and it really softens it up and makes it managable.

Serial relaxing or perming isn't good for anyone. If someone looks into it, I am sure they could come up with a study to show a link to cancer or other issues with chemical hair processors.

White women perm and color and do all that stuff too and they are also at risk. Those chemicals in the cosmetics are horrible and rather dangerous!

I love my locs! Been natural for 17yrs...would not ever go back to the relaxer...

I'm currently TRYING to grow out my perm and it is not a fun process! But I do find natural hair to be so much prettier.

Hang in there Pink...it is worth the time and effort!

Whatever happened to pubic hair, like that thick bush on Bev Johnson?

Thanks Nurse!

Anonymous, that's one trend I don't think anyone is trying to bring back!

Pink,

Don't 'grow your perm out'. Just cut that shit off! It's so fun and oooh so liberating. It'll grow way faster too. Good luck!
