Man, that's wrong.
Sure, you could take the surface meaning and claim the Post was only saying that the stimulus appears to have been written by some bumbling chimps.
But, we know that it's Obama's stimulus package. And we know Obama is a black man. And we know the Post is conservative. So, to me, it's like they are calling Obama an ape ad suggesting he be shot.
Maybe it's just me though.

Anonymous did a good job of saying what I would have said, although I wouldn't have set aside the race issue so easily.
And, if me seeing this as a race issue is evidence of a problem I have, I'm ok with that.
If I'm overly suspicious, I think I'm justified.
As DV might put it if he wanted to connect ideas, if you were a Palestine wouldn't you be suspicious of everything Israelis say?
So, if my experiences in America have led me to develop a suspicious nature when it comes to the motives of many white people, is that stupid?

Wow, I didn't really see that meaning the first time I looked at this one.
It brought to mind a quote from South Park, Chef talking to Elton John. "Look, you're a good singer, but a retarded monkey could write better lyrics." No racial connotation, just saying someone not so intelligent wrote the thing.
But I dunno, it's hard to say. Only the artist himself really knows. Of course, not even a halfway intelligent artist (AND editor who approved it, let's not forget) couldn't have realized that the image might bring a little extra baggage in tow with it and be taken the wrong way.

I hate these little laptop key boards. Everything gets screwed up and lost typing,but I want to finish what I tried to write by saying I saw the New York Post cartoon with the chimpanzee and NEVER thought of either Obama or any black people. I thought of those idiots we "elected" in Congress. That gang of chimps (sorry to insult chimps by the way).
The pc liberals who are so insulted by the NYPost cartoon are insulted because they secretly associate monkeys with blacks. That is the only reason to get upset. So they DO have a problem - with themselves.
