What exactly happened to Stephon? (Let me guess Casper. Whatever happened to him, he should be put in jail too, huh? What? He's in violation of NY Penal Code § 34-11A-1 Sullen Negro Prohibition Act or something like that?

Smart guy. He is doing what he needs to do not to jeopardize his 21 million paycheck. Now he can one day build businesses and then hand them over to his kids. Unlike Plaxico who is going broke as we speak.
Contrary to your portrayal of my positions DV I am pleased when men of color who have great opportunities behave like Kings and not boys. I unlike you believe we need to raise the bar for our people. It's time to get serious. The NFL and NBA are 60 plus percent black. 90 plus percent of these brothers have good careers and great future's after ball. The few like Plaxico has people around him who enable him to do stupid shit. Read this guys history. He was off the chain in his college and Pittsburgh Steelers days as well. So although Steph is different and known as a head case sometimes. He ain't stupid. An additional $21million for doing nothing is a wonderful. Don't you wish you had that gig?
People think the NBA-NFL is all glory, but the truth of the matter is that it's a grueling emotional journey that ends up badly for most players. Imagine how un-intellectual you'd feel playing basketball for living. Everyone looks at you as just a basketball player. Period. That's got to be frustrating, even for dudes like Marbury. If he were like Jim Brown and just walked away, I'd have a little more respect for him. Instead, he's tracking the team, bumpin' his gums in the papers and trying to fight to get his job back.
SM was the bomb at Ga Tech. In the NBA, though, he's just never really fit in with any team he's been on since him and Garnett were in Minnesota (and we know how that ended). He's a great scorer, but not really a great point guard. Kind like Iverson(b).

Is being a basketball player really any less intellectual than being a lawyer? Or a banker? Or a mortgage broker?
I think Stephon is taking glee in beating a system run by the likes of Michael Stern, that has milked the life out of 90% of the players it exploits.
Good for him.

1) First of all DV you haven't read Plaxico's past I know. 2) There are several thousand NFLers each year. So you think they are just picking on this one guy named Plaxico. 3) If that bullet had hit a 19 year old girl instead of Plaxico's leg then what? 4) Unlike you I can tell a brother when he is right and wrong. I am not scared of my people. I am honest about bullshit! Your way of protectionism reminds me of my grandmother after her son shot a Korean store owner in cold blood. OH! He is a victim. Police made him do it! 5) I am not prone to groupie tendencies so I can never understand your POV.

The founders of the American state understood that the proper functioning of a democracy required an educated electorate. It is this understanding that justifies a system of public education and that led slaveholders to resist the spread of literacy among their chattels. But the meaning of "educated" has changed beyond recognition in two hundred years. Reading, writing, and arithmetic are no longer sufficient to decide on public policy. Now we need quantum mechanics and molecular biology. The knowledge required for political rationality, once available to the masses, is now in the possession of a specially educated elite, a situation that creates a series of tensions and contradictions in the operation of representative democracy.
