First of all I am usually just a lurker on this site and others and do not post. If I post, I usually do it anon, but this issue touches close and I decided to login. I have grown up around homosexuals. Two of my cousins that helped my mother raise me were homosexuals. They were the FIRST and ONLY MEN, as a young Black woman that I identified with. With that being said, I do not agree with homosexuality. I do not support same-sex marriage nor do I support same-sex relationships to any degree. I believe in family values. There is a role that men play and a role that women play. I believe that you need these to very different but dynamic roles to raise a healthy child; to be a responsible role model. Even though my father was not a main staple in my life until later years, he taught me more about the male species than either of my two homosexual relatives. See, in my opinion they were to worried about portraying that they were homosexuals, meaning they wanted people to believe that they understood what women and men were feeling as a whole that they missed the whole point of being who they were. Growing up somedays I needed a man's perspective and on some a woman's and on most days I needed both, but with my mother working and going to school, I had to rely on her "coming and going" wisdom and my homosexual relatives "backdoor" wisdom. Am I a homophobic? NO. I respect their decision, but I also realize that they are missing a key element in their argument; It take MAN and WOMAN to raise a child and build a community.
