I don't know K.

I'm funny about AI. He's in the twilight of his career (though he doesn't seem to have slowed down), and I'd love to see him get his due - which is a championship.

He reminds me of an era when pro athletes weren't crucified for being individuals.

However, I suspect the torch has been passed to a new generation of combo guard - Chris Paul.

Whachu think?

For Detroit I think its all about the cap. 21M off the books in a year when AI becomes a free agent vs 50M plus that would have sat on the books for several years with the players Dumars unloaded. The youth movement has begun with this trade and I really don't see AI in Detroit's long term future.

AI, Sheed, Stuckey, Rip, Maxiel and company can score but the backcourt D and floor leadership took a hit.

Denver made good short term moves but they still have work to do. A traditional point guard will help bring some order to the offense, especially Melo. Vets should help the D as well. The west is tough so I don't think this will change projections.

The late, great David Halberstam wrote this about Iverson:

He has been the invincible man, refusing again and again, when faced with opponents who have superior ability, to lose. He has driven himself and his teammates to a level where they normally would not be. He has helped take a team that is, in a technical sense, not necessarily that talented, and not only lifted it to the Finals, but he has made it competitive with an L.A. team that appeared ready to roll over it just as it had rolled over everyone else lately.

Iverson went against the grain. And in a way, I love him for that.

Because God's Son, Barack Obama, went against the grain of xenophobia and exclusion, and because the first Black President of this United States!
