DV, you gotta be kidding me.

Marvin...yep.
Prince..no doubt.

But how about the follwing for starters:

Mike Jackson
Elton John
MJB
Bono
Bob Marley
Hendrix

Just to name a few.

And just for the record...Luther's sweet ass would croon circles around Kelley.

And Dont make me go back to Teddy P.

Either lay off the wacky tobacky or tell me where I can get some, cause clearly you on somethin good.

Well, you know Prince.

When a brotha is ahead of the curve, he's accustomed to taking positions unpopular with the proletariat.

Study Kelly's library, analyze his impact on R&B / Hip Hop / Soul / Pop / Black music for the past 2 decades, examine his interpretations of sex and spirituality, meditate on the "Fortunate" lyrics he wrote for Maxwell, note the vast range between "Your Body's Callin'", "Step In The Name of Love", "I believe I can fly" or the operatic "Closet" - and get back to me in 5 years.

Or wait for some white boy to write it in Time Magazine or create a class at Harvard - then you will get it.

LMAO!

My disagreement with your errant position, in no way, makes me a proletariate, nor makes you ahead of the game. You funny, though. The way you always pull the "im just ahead of the game" card whenever someone takes a credibale stance against yours. Nigga I AM the game. You musta forgot.

So, RKelley has had a greater impact on music over the last 20 years than Mike Jackson? Than Elton John? Than Luther Vandross? Nigguh Please. You need to expand your musical horizons to include artists other than niggas who wear pink, purple and kiss other men. (Not the elton and Luther didnt)

Let's take a poll among YOUR bloggers. Who made the biggest impact in music over the last 20 years.

Mike Jackson or RKelly?

Elton John or RKelly?

Luther Vandross or RKelly?

Tupac or RKelly?

Let's see how many "Proletarites" there are.

Your infatuation with these hip hop negroes is almost disturbing.

"Let's take a poll among YOUR bloggers."

lol. poll.

Of course.

Consensus.

p.r.o.l.e.t.a.r.i.a.t.e.

Majority = truth.
Herd mentality.

ahhhhh .... where do I start ...
'
Mike Jackson?

One of the greatest entertainers of all time. Living icon. He's more than music.

But we talking music.

Name a writer in R. Kelly's league in the past 20 years?

"these Hip Hop Negros" ....?

"these Hip Hop Negros" are modern day Picasso's, Pollacks and Keats. Jay-Z was a whiteboy they'd be teaching him in Junior High School now.

What little swagger ya'll negros from the 92228 or the 98880 or whatever ya'll local yocals use to identify yourselves with can be directly traced to Hip Hop.

You'd still be wearing curls wasn't for Hip Hop.

Name a square Negro pushing the boundaries of art and language like Lil Wayne.

Uh, 2 of those "greatest musicians" don't even play instruments. :/

I've figured you out, DV. You don't really believe half the shit you say. You just like to play devil's advocate. I'll play along.

"Let's take a poll among YOUR bloggers."
lol. poll.
Of course.
Consensus.
p.r.o.l.e.t.a.r.i.a.t.e."

Sometime within the next 6 weeks, you will play a part in the biggest POLL in U.S. history. You're a proletariate, sheeple and play a pivotal role in the group think mentality...right?

(That one was from the NBA 3 pt line)

"Majority = truth."
Sometimes, my brother, it does. The Prince suggested a poll to gobtain the varying perspectives of numerous, unrelated sources, many of whom you respect and/or know personally. I was under the impression that you had the capacity to deflate your overinflated ego once many of your own respected people vehemently disagreed with you, if not scoffed at your position. I mean if a million people told you that you look like a horse, wouldn't you eventually turn around to see if you have a tail?

There are times in which an unpopular stance against the masses serves as a forward thinking catalyst for change and progress. There other times where that stance just makes you look like a contrarion. This is one of those times.

" Name a writer in R. Kelly's league in the past 20 years?"

How much time you got?

Tupac
Luther
Prince
Jigga
Elton John
Barbara Streisand
Celine Deion
Eminem
Which of the above do you contest?

Step outside of your hip hop bubble for a split second.

"these Hip Hop Negros" are modern day Picasso's, Pollacks and Keats. Jay-Z was a whiteboy they'd be teaching him in Junior High School now.

I actually agree with this. I just think you took it WAAAAAY to far to crown RKelly the greatest musician of all time. Does he even play an instrument? Prince plays like 7.

Where can I get some of that sticky icky?

Byrd, I noticed that too. But I substituted "musicians" for "artists". I'm sure thats what DV meant anyway.

Denmark Vesey said...

LOL. Ahhhh Prince.

Your lack imagination can't be shrouded behind weak little conspiracy theories. "Devils Advocate"?

LOL.

Come on man.

You sound like one of them chicks on TSO.

Musician? Instrument?

What's more of an instrument than the human voice?

Musicians. Make. Music.

Who's making more or better music than R. Kelly?

Anonymous said...

I going with DV on this one. But whats this correlation between Black musical genius and pedophilia?

Anonymous said...

DV, I think Sarah Palin has hacked into your account and is posting under your name. This level of evasive posturing is off the charts! A whole lotta talkin, yet no substance...no answers.

" Musician? Instrument?
What's more of an instrument than the human voice?"
See what I mean.

" Your lack imagination can't be shrouded behind weak little conspiracy theories. "Devils Advocate"?"

Lack of imagination? This niggas made his whole career on bump n grind songs (Jodeci did that), then caught a case from not knowing where to draw the line between fantasy and reality. He made one song "I believe I can fly" that stepped outside of his box. That trapped in the closet was utterly riduculous. He's fucking another man's woman then gets "trapped in the closet" when dude comes home?! COME ON DV! Where is the substance? You put this guy's career in the category of PRINCE, MJ, EJ, LUTHER and Jigga? He's far closer to the level of an Usher or Justin Timberlake (who may actually have him beat)

"Who's making more or better music than R. Kelly?"

So now it's about volume? Master P used to release a new album every month! Maybe that propels him into the convo.

"Who's making more or better music than R. Kelly?"

Perhaps you missed the list I posted up top.

What up Illy, what exactly do you agree with DV about?

That RKelly is the greatest artist in the last 20 years? Dude can't even sell out the Garden, let alone sell 50-70,000 tickets every night of his tour. Man please. Dude got booted from Jigga's tour and not one ticket was returned. What do think would happen if Prince, Elton John, or Cher, or even MJB canceled a tour date?

And an industry cat like you? Do I need to question your musical knowledge and repertoire?

FYI - DV, I'm still just playing along. I know you don't mean what you're saying. Now that we have reached that magical number of 10 comments, we can retire this topic.

LINE OF THE WEEK....

There are times in which an unpopular stance against the masses serves as a forward thinking catalyst for change and progress. There other times where that stance just makes you look like a contrarion. This is one of those times.

I hope that list is in no particular order because Prince definitely holds down the number one spot on any list.

Like I say you can out argue me on this P. Wayne I'd be a hypocrite if I said ticket sales aren't a measure of success. Im a truth addict... but I don't know if I can say more than it's... R.Kelly.

Big Man said...

"Wait, what do you mean by teenager?" R. Kelly.

That right there was hilarious.
