Asians tend to be K-gamers with slower maturity and greater longevity.
This, combined with possible delayed menses/maturity from hard training at an early age could slow physical development.
That said, He Kexin would still be pushing the limits of believability for 16.

Were I to bet money, He Kexin is <16. She's very young-looking even for 14...and by "Asian" standards.
I agree with Byrdeye, even taking into account cultural differences and any delayed development as a result of training, that child in the middle is NOT 16. The one on the right is a little more likely, but I'm still not convinced.
That all said, the US coverage of the Olympics was some of the pettiest, ugliest, excuse-ridden, sore-losing, hate-filled Americentric/xenophobic propaganda I've seen yet.
In the final tally, China won 51 golds and 100 medals total. The US only 36 golds and 110 total.
So, even if you subtracted 1 gold for He Kexin, the gold gap is still a canyon.
US should just give credit where credit is due instead of incessantly whining. Jewish parasites have sucked this country dry so please fasten your seatbelts folks as we are now beginning our descent from 30,000 feet.
Seriously, who gives a rats arse if these girls are 16 or not? With all that's going on in the world, this is what the sheeple are outraged about?
All the publicity surrounding this issue has more to do with the constant player hatin' on China - can't just let them host a bad ass Olympics and say "well done" - it has to have "controversy" even after it's over.
If Nastia Liukin felt she got cheated, that's her business. She can handle it.

The Obama/Olympic hoopla is to distract us from those real crisis-level problems stomping around in the middle of the room. And the playa-hating on China is to distract from the fact that they hosted the baddest party in the last 500 years on Earth and also kicked our ass in overall athletic competition.
Hell, Rastamon Island kicked our ass in competition!
These sore-losing crybabies could find specks of rust on the Statue of Liberty to find an excuse to trash it.
I kind of felt it was a little player haterish, also. They put on an amazing show. And kicked our butts in gold medal count. If they had 14 or 15 year olds talented enough or well enough trained to compete at this level and win, its hard to say do not allow them to compete. I'd probably falsify a passport or birth certificate too if these were my children.
