KOBE BRYANT WINS 2008 MVP

THE DENMARK VESEY 2008
NBA MVP AWARD GOES TO

KOBE BRYANT

To hell with waiting for David Stern to anoint the MVP. We don't need a 5'6" fat little Jewish lawyer to acknowledge the obvious: Kobe Bryant is the greatest player in the game today, and possibly the greatest of all time.

Players to collect at least one scoring title, MVP, and Championship: Jordan, Shaq, Wilt, Kareem, Dr. J (ABA scoring title), David Robinson, Bob McAdoo, and Kobe.

Players to collect all three aforementioned awards and be selected to an All-Defensive First Team: Jordan, Wilt, Kareem, Robinson, and Kobe.

Players to be selected to at least six All-NBA and All-Defensive First Teams: Tim Duncan, Jordan, and Kobe.

Players to have an MVP, a Scoring Title, a Championship, and at least six All-Defensive First Teams: Jordan and Kobe.

Kobe's Career Stats: A PPG of 28.98, or 29 with standard rounding. (* Minus first 4 years of career when he would have been in college. Casper and Big Man are right. His entire career average is 25) Third best all-time behind Jordan and Wilt at 30.1, and far ahead of fourth place Allen Iverson at 27.7 and falling.

In Jordan's highest scoring season, 1987-88, the median PPG of all NBA teams was 108.0 on the dot.

In Chamberlain's highest scoring year, 1961-62, it was 118.9.

In Kobe's highest scoring year, 2005-06, it was only 97.4.

Don't forget... Kobe is also the #1NBA Snitcher... Bitch Ass!

In 2003, Bryant's reputation was tainted by a sexual assault case in which a young woman from Colorado, accused him of rape. With his image tarnished, the public's perception of Bryant plummeted, and his endorsement contracts with McDonald's, Nutella, and Ferrero SpA were terminated.

During the investigation, Kobe told police that "he should have done what Shaq does ... that Shaq would pay his women not to say anything" and that Shaq already had paid up to $1 million "for situations like this." This was controversial because Kobe and Shaq were teammates at the time and many thought that Kobe broke "locker-room code" by revealing confidential information, or worse, by falsely accusing a teammate to deflect attention from himself.[

Kobe is great but this is not his year for MVP. For you to post this BS after the NO win over Dallas shows that you watch the Lakers and thats about it.

CP3 is MVP and any objective fan OF THE GAME rather than a team and or player recognizes that. Its not even close. (I'm not from NO, not related to CP & Dallas has been my squad since the early Nash, Finley, Van Exel, Dirk days)

In the preseason NO was predicted to scrape into the playoffs if at all. CP3 is only in his 3rd season and he's leading the league in steals and assts. The percentage of offense and possessions generated by one man is astounding at the least. Nash won it back to back by leading in assts alone and showing that he is the focal point of the team. If CP isn't doing that w/a far weaker supporting cast you sir are lying through your teeth. If you aren't scratching your head as to how NO head coach represented the west in the All star game then NO continued to push the fight for the #1 seed to the final game of the season, you have to be comatose. Clearly NO didn't "get hot". They sustained their dominance throughout the entire year w/out a blockbuster mid season trade.

Kobe's weak performance and LA's comfortable win yesterday proves there is now a far more balanced attack in LA that can overcome a sub par performance from Kobe. NO doesn't have that luxury and the LA fans that keep stroking Kobe's MVP hopes know that.

And to the fool who said CP has "some players". You don't want to compare rosters homie. Sit down. Peja is a slow shadow of his former self w/declining minutes post injury and Chandler has to be spoon fed lobs from CP to score. West however is indeed a special player thats tough to guard like Odom, Bynum, Gasol and arguably Fisher.

Give the mvp talk a rest or simply preface your comment with "I'm a FAN" so I can place it in its proper context. Kobe may win because corporate jerks make the call but from a bball standpoint this is an open and shut case w/no discussion.

Jay-Z, Fiddy, Tupac, Biggie, Kobe -

Caspers pattern of hating brothers with more game than him is telling.

Of all the things to say about this young black man, who came into the league at 18 years old, and has lived his entire adult life under the microscope of media scrutiny - Casper repeats, (at the top of his lungs) a false accusation of rape by a trailer trash gold digger whose case was thrown out of court.

Casper, just because they tried to lynch the brotha, doesn't mean you have to go fetch the rope.

DV you flip flop more than Puff Daddy's slippers. Which one is it are you for snitching or against snitching???? The fact is if Kobe had kept his mouth shut this wouldn't be an issue now would it???? I hate a man? who snitches on brothers for non-violent / non- crimes. Kobe was HATING! on Shaq! Period!... The man who looked after him. Is that the kind of brother you are DV??

Secondly, your LOVE Kobe so much you posted incorrect stats for him. Does he really need your help on that bad???

"The fact is if Kobe had kept his mouth shut this wouldn't be an issue now would it????"

uhhh ... Casper.

It really aint an issue.

Shaq cool. Kobe cool. They've moved on.

Yet years later, you still walking around with your lips poked out, like you had something to do with it.

Just any excuse to hate huh?

"CP3 is MVP and any objective fan OF THE GAME rather than a team and or player recognizes that." KP

K,

Any objective fan of THE WORD VALUE ... understands that value is directly proportional to demand.

If every player in the NBA, if every basketball player on the planet Earth, was a free agent today - the first man picked tomorrow would be who?

Hint (K_b_ Bry_nt).

What else is there to talk about?

I already think Chris Paul will prove to be the best point guard in the history of the game. I'd take him over Nash, Parker, Jason Kidd or a 25 year old Magic Johnson right now.

But he aint no Kobe Bryant. Yet.

MOST VALUABLE = FIRST MAN PICKED

Just any excuse to hate huh?

Do you mean how you hate jews, gays, Oprah, Dairy Queen, and anyone who dislikes the gansta rap game???

Secondly, I notice you won't answer why you published fake ppg numbers for Kobe. That's some Hilary Clinton tactic.

Go ahead...change the subject ...quickly!

"MOST VALUABLE = FIRST MAN PICKED"

If thats the case why doesn't Jordan have 10-15 MVP's? The MVP is an annual award based on the play within that particular season. Your post is all career numbers that are irrelevant in an MVP conversation.

Stick to golf. compare Byron Nelson and Tiger from now on.

Its ok to be a partisan fan. I forgive you.

Uh, Denmark, you're making shit up.

KObe's career scoring average is 25.8, not 29.

go ahead and change that since Iverson is still third all-time at 27.7.

Big Man said...

And this is not on some "hate" shit like Casper. Iverson earned his spot, at least give him the respect of that spot and take down the wrong information.

Denmark Vesey said...

"If thats the case why doesn't Jordan have 10-15 MVP's?" KP

He should have 10 MVP's.

Who was more VALUABLE than Jordan during those years?

Name him ________________ ?

MVP means exactly what it says. Doesn't need a whole bunch explanation.

MVP = MOST. VALUABLE. PLAYER.

Aint that deep KP. Don't need to be a rocket scientist or an expert on the triangle offense, or a fan of the Dallas Mavericks since back in da day.

Don't wait for the sanction of the plantation to acknowledge the obvious.

Fuck. David Stern.

We can decide right here, amongst us, between men ... who is most valuable.

Why wait for some fat old bald headed reporters from the Chicago Tribune and the Washington Post to "vote" and then "announce" to us who is "Most Valuable"?

What they know we don't know?

Got ya Big Man.

My fault.

I should have been more clear.

I stole the stat info from my man Rob Caldwell over at the "Bleacher Report".

He too argues that Kobe is the greatest of all time IF you compare apples to apples.

Which in his eyes means - Had Kobe entered the league after 4 years of college, when he was older, more mature and physically capable of competing with men his own age - (22 instead of 18, as did the Wilts, and Kareem's) his stats would be more indicative of his talents.

Therefor the 28+ PPG average you see quoted in this post - is his career stats MINUS the first 4 years of his career. Simulating a scenario where he would have entered not straight out of high school.

My fault. I threw the post up without clarifying that.

Casper is right.

But Kobe is still the baddest motherfucker on the planet.

I'm w/you on phuck stern and the suits. They'd just as soon sell detergent and toothpaste for P&G. More than likely they'll phuck this one up too.

I say let coaches decide.

I'm w/you that jordan should have more mvps. shaq should as well.

However, within the existing season to season award system, you have players that go above and beyond from a performance standpoint that makes them hard to deny. This year aint kobe. His accomplishments and value IN THIS SEASON do not outweigh CP.

The only NBA story bigger than the NO hornets season is the potential for a Boston vs LA final. Big markets and big time NBA franchises vs little NO. For that reason the NBA will probably pick kobe so the MVP is playing in the finals vs the big three goliath. PR Hype 101.

That's a damn good point KP.

MoFos are in the business of making money at the end of the day.

They could give a shit about the "purity" of their decision.

And man ... don't get me wrong. When CP is playing, I make my boys stop doing their homework to watch.

Fuck The American Revolution and Paul Revere.

BTW Jordan didn't stay in college for 4 years.
There are mulitple achievements you didn't mention for Jordan.
Bottom line Kobe ain't even close. He is good but NOT the greatest:

1982 NCAA Championship

Rookie of the Year—1985

14-time NBA All-Star

Five-time NBA MVP—1988, 1991, 1992, 1996, 1998

Olympic Gold Medalist—1984

Olympic Gold Medalist—1992

Slam Dunk Contest champion—1987

Slam Dunk Contest champion—1988

Most scoring titles—10

Most All-Defensive First Teams—9

Most NBA Finals MVP awards—6

Highest career scoring average—30.12

Highest career scoring average playoffs—33.45

Most consecutive games scoring in double figures—866

Highest single series scoring average NBA Finals—41.0 (1993)

Defensive Player of the Year—1988

Nine-time All-Defensive First Team

I think that settles it. Our friend Denmark was having a Hillary Clinton moment....selective and biased application of stats to bolster his claim.

Denmark Vesey said...

LOL.

That's cute Sub.

But peep. Given first pick of any NBA Player tomorrow ... who'd you pick?

Thank you.

Case closed.

You made me go through all that.

Next time, just take my word for it.

Kobe = MVP

Anonymous said...

Tim Duncan or Lebron.. This game is not Golf or TennIs it's Team. Lebron had no one on his squad last year and carried them to the finals. Kobe hasn't made it out of the first round since Shaq left. Case Closed!

Big Man said...

Thanks for the clarification.

But, I don't get the four years cut-off. Some of the greatest entered the league early. Jordan, Iverson, Lebron, KG and Moses Malone.

Kobe is the baddest and the MVP, but still hasn't outscored my main man Allen Iverson.

Denmark Vesey said...

Big Man,

During game 1 of the Lakers v Nuggets, Mark Jackson said AI was "the greatest player in the history of the game, pound for pound".

Van Gundy tried to laugh him off the air, but I felt the brother.

AI .. IS.

I'm in total agreement w/mark jackson.
