With over 1 Million blacks in the for-profit prison system, any African-American not supporting Ron Paul 100% ... should be smacked. classical one said... We have been waging the drug war since Nixon was in office and ever year, we lose. Nah P. Not that Michael Fisher simpleminded type of racism.
This problem is less the consequence of what others do to us than it is the consequence of something we do to ourselves.
I think the disparity is due to many ignorant decisions made by black people.
Black people CONTINUING TO vote for Democratic politicians, who perpetuate this predatory drug policy that has imprisoned millions, killed thousands, increased drug addiction, destroyed families, and devastated our community - is like Jews voting for Nazis who were perpetuating the Holocaust.
Let's not blame others by chalking this problem up to "racism".
Obama offers us an "Audacity of Hope".
Ron Paul offers to stop funneling us into prisons.

The war on drugs is absurd from the perspective of the common citizen, and downright evil from the perspective of those disproportionately targetted by it.
However, when viewed from the perspective of that demographic which principally profits from its continuation, it makes perfect sense. Don't count on it to go away anytime soon.
Ron Paul is a radical, but that's a good thing. He definitely wants to depart from the "usual or traditional."
I agree with a lot Ron Paul "promises." I hate to play the devil's advocate considering I'm an optimist, but how many times have crooked ass politicians bamboozled naive people to vote for them by making a bunch of seductive false promises.
Here in GA, our governor (Sonny Perdue), duped the very people who put him into office by promising that he would let the people vote to bring the old confederate state flag back. The flag was the last thing he was thinking about after elected. To date, there are a bunch of red necks, who voted in huge numbers for the first time, that still hold protest with the theme, "Sonny Lied."
Continue to listen to Ron Paul. I'd be interested in what you think after you've had a chance to discern the difference between him and every other candidate in this race.

"There was of course no way of knowing whether you were being watched at any given moment. How often, or on what system, the Thought Police plugged in on any individual wire was guesswork. It was even conceivable that they watched everybody all the time. But at any rate they could plug in your wire whenever they wanted to. You had to live—did live, from habit that became instinct—in the assumption that every sound you made was overheard, and, except in darkness, every movement scrutinized."

The founders of the American state understood that the proper functioning of a democracy required an educated electorate. It is this understanding that justifies a system of public education and that led slaveholders to resist the spread of literacy among their chattels. But the meaning of "educated" has changed beyond recognition in two hundred years. Reading, writing, and arithmetic are no longer sufficient to decide on public policy. Now we need quantum mechanics and molecular biology. The knowledge required for political rationality, once available to the masses, is now in the possession of a specially educated elite, a situation that creates a series of tensions and contradictions in the operation of representative democracy.

Brother DV, do you think the disparity is due to racism?

To hell with the race talk - pick.
The sadest part in all of this BS political show is rational Ron Paul is pegged as a complete and total radical.
You are right KP,

The others are promising to fix the sneeze.
Paul has a plan to kill the virus.
CNu, the drug laws are very profitable.
Ron Paul, is reminding people the drug laws are not cut in stone. They are there simply because we TOLERATE them.
That's why I blame us, particularly black people who suffer from them so much, for the perpetuation of these laws.
What kind of men are we to sit back and watch hundreds of thousands of nonviolent drug offenders warehoused in cages for 10, 15 and 20 years?
Some of us have the nerve to still be mad about slavery, which happened 250 years ago, while an equally egregious crime occurs today.

Ron Paul doesn't care about negroes, in fact he condiers 95% of them in D.C. to be "criminal or semi-criminal".
He also has stated he wants to quarentine AIDS carriers, and constantly complains about BANKS and PAPER MONEY.
Racist, insane, and a neo-confederate.
