Obama says he’s a fan of the genre and has already spoken to two of his favorite artists, Kanye West and Jay-Z, about how to use hip-hop to positive effect.
Speaking to Jeff Johnson on the TV show What’s In It For Us?, he said: "I’ve met with Jay-Z; I’ve met with Kanye. And I’ve talked to other artists about how potentially to bridge that gap. I think the potential for them to deliver a message of extraordinary power that gets people thinking is massive."

Smart man as he is headed to South Carolina and all those black folk. Look at the timing. Good politics. I suspect it will be a different outcome if he wins.
Ludacris is not the same as the rappers you preach DV...he's different

Um,
Interesting TG. Thank you. You seem like a smart, thoughtful person. The type of person who could suspend their personal prejudices and make poignant insightful cultural observations.
Help me out.
Please tell me 1 thing different between Ludacriss and Jay-Z?

I will assume you mean something besides millions of album sales, one fly ass black woman on his arm at all times, and a demonstrable business acumen....I'm waiting to hear too.
You are so right DV. Jay is just fab!
Obama says rapppers have "potential". Meaning they could become what he envisions. Meaning they aren't there yet. The statement says Barak is willing to work with then to become something other than what they are now.
Yet here is our man DV, taking it and pretending like it's an all out lovefest for hip hop. Obama is reaching out to everyone, that's what politicians do. The only reason the white politicians don't reach out to hip hop is becasue they know hip hop won't respond. Barak being a Black man is counting on the politics of racial identity to secure the hip hop vote for him. Smart? Absolutely. An endorsement of hip hop? Not even close.
DV you have got to get back in touch with the real world. That one you are living in is not healty at all. I think it's making you dumber. I'm sure telemaque wold disagree
Mr. Exodus, yes I disagree. Hip Hop (not the "Global White Supremacy" stuff like tired old Pubic Enemy) is the most significant demonstration of black supremacy since Malcolm X.
Barack Obama obviously understands that 50 Cents and Snoop Dog are the true faces and future of black people and black power! THIS is why he courts them.
I am right in there with DV and his brilliant analysis.
Just wait, Ron Paul who is MUCH MORE BLACK than Barack Obama could EVER be is going to do the SAME THING!
