The Denmark Vesey Best Review Award

The Wire is the best show ever created for American television. Omar has the gravitas and complexity of a figure from a Shakespearean tragedy. And Brother Muzone was similarly well composed.

I was pleased to learn that Mayor Sheila Dixon has made a legitimate attempt at helping our people rather than hurling familiar tropes. I did not support her candidacy but this is a definite move in the right direction. Now if only we could decriminalize drugs and regulate the narcotics industry the way we do vices and dangerous items like alcohol, tobacco, gambling, pornography and guns, then we would have a new physics at work in our cities.

Sub,

Please elaborate a little of what you believe that new physics might entail?

I agree sub.

however, the sharp decline in the prison system population is the major hurdle to decriminalizing drugs. prison system reform is step #1.

Forgiveness is not the dominant trait of the current crop of moralists. It would start by acknowledging the humanity of poor black people relative to their affluent counterparts.
