I don`t dislike it, I own recordings by hip hop artists. All I am saying is that this is not an end or be all as far as art.
I bought Jz`s Black Album when it came out, because I thought it was cool. It is creative, and this guy is creative yes also... but, there are a lot of creative people around, black white or other.
Really the Motown genre was super creative also.
Now don`t start talking about Plantation this and that. It was fun, creative, and interesting music.
As a guitarist, I look up to Robert Johnson, the Blues Man, that originated lots of blues ideas.
I love Hendrix, and lots of others.
One of my music heroes from the past is Arthur Lee. A guy from L.A. that passed away recently. HIS BAND 'love' WAS CREATIVE.
There is no better or worse music. One guy beating a drum sounds pretty good on occasion.
