Hottest Joint On The Planet

I love a cat that perseveres, overcomes hate and jealousy and continues to win. That's a great model for the kids.

Outta NOTHING, at that?

Can't wait 'til that little role model Fitty got on his side comes to get yo daughter when he needs a new ho (or an old Bitch), DV. Don't be a damn fool.

Ya'll cats are artistic Neanderthals deconstructing your own misinterpretation of music that was never meant to be taken literally.

This track is no more about money than "Purple Rain" is about reddish blue precipitation. He's using money as a metaphor, a tool, a vehicle for playful self-aggrandizement.

The track is about focus, desire, achievement, fulfillment and perseverance. The cut is about power, hustle and self-definition. Squares, lames and gameless rap haters look silly taking shots at a cat whose personal propaganda is more effective than that of most nations.

Even if that cat were selling drugs just as long as he is overcoming hate and jealousy... That's a role model to you ... Huh!?

I like this video, and think it is great fun, even though it is totally phucked up.
He is telling the truth in the context of the society we live in.
If ya got enough money, you can hire a couple of broads to be your sexy slaves, and pimp out your wardrobe really cool.
In other words, any one that does not take advantage of the 'system' is a fool.
That is not a pleasant message, but it is one that many follow, because of being forced mostly into following it, to survive.
The alternative is poverty, or in the words of one...
'The definition of a criminal... A person that does not have the know how, or money, to start a corporation.'
50 is just a player.
Can`t really point the finger of good or bad at him.
Our society makes his behavior possible, and he is rewarded for it.
He is just a worm eating the dead flesh. Only reactive in a creative, and honest way, as most of us can not be in this society, and just saying it the way it is, in the context we live in.
Most people in this society are in the same boat.
Real change would be an alternative to the present system.
This may be a protest video, I don`t know.
I assume he is aware of the dynamic I am talking about.

"I Get Money".....ZZZZ...monotonous material

"This may be a protest video".

I betta not say anything, or we're gonna end up like we were before.

J.C. said...

Thats OK Fisher, I was cutting 50 a lot of slack. Kind of viewing the video as a parody of how screwed up things are, and just kind of guessing that his awareness level of this might be a motivation.
I could well be wrong on that.
I also agree PD that this, like a lot of this genre of music gets boring in the break department.
Why not a cool lead guitar ripping into it and changing the beat a bit, or a horn blowing up a little interesting storm.
Mostly it is kinda silly bluster, but also comic I thought.

Either way the video doesn't match DV's attempt to make it something other than whet is actually he is talking about. Good try DV...

focus, desire, achievement, fulfillment and perseverance

My ass! focus on hoes maybe

Good one Casper.

DV discerns more than 90% of the 50 target is able to. They hear get sell dope, rap and I can "get on".

Worm eating dead fish is absolutely correct. The state of affairs in the music industry allows a 50 character (and 100 little clones) to thrive.

The man has an ear for beats though. this one is catchy and cool for a lead single but 50's "panties to the side" joint is a much better trak w/layers... a bit less monotonous.

The state of affairs in AMERICA allows much worse than 50 to thrive.

No doubt.. But do two wrongs make a right?

Intellectual Insurgent said...

We're not talking about two wrongs making a right. We're talking about a society that is SO fucked up -

42nd in the world in life expectancy, notwithstanding spending the highest amount on "healthcare"

where a young black teenager dies from a tooth absess because his mother had to choose which kid would get dental care

where Kenneth Foster is set to be executed in 2 weeks for a murder he did not commit

where Shaquanda Cotton gets thrown in jail for shoving a hall monitor

where you can question the existence of God, but not global warming

where ethanol is being produced at a rate that is pushing up the price of essential foods

where studies show that the high levels of lead in the paint and water of poor neighborhoods may be the cause of increased violence

where schools don't teach children how to be much more than unthinking, obedient workers

And the target of your outrage is rap music?

Seems like too easy of a target.

Reminds me of a verse from a Dead Prez song -

Cuz for real, a mind is a terrible thing to waste
And all y'all high class niggas with y'all nose up
Cuz we droppin this shit on this joint, fuck y'all
We gon speak for ourselves
Knowhatimsayin? Cuz see the schools aint teachin us nothin
They aint teachin us nothin but how to be slaves and hardworkers
For white people to build up they shit
Make they businesses successful while it's exploitin us
Knowhatimsayin?
And they aint teachin us nothin related to Solvin our own problems, knowhatimsayin?
Aint teachin us how to get crack out the ghetto
They aint teachin us how to stop the police from murdering us
And brutalizing us,
they aint teachin us how to get our rent paid Knowhatimsayin?
They aint teachin our families how to interact Better with each other, knowhatimsayin?
They just teachin us How to build they shit up, knowhatimsayin? That's why my niggas
Got a problem with this shit, that's why niggas be droppin out that Shit cuz it don't relate,
you go to school the fuckin police
Searchin you you walkin in your shit like this a military compound
Knowhatimsayin?
So school don't even relate to us
Until we have some shit where we control the fuckin school system
Where we reflect how we gon solve our own problems
Them niggas aint gon relate to school, shit that just how it is
Knowhatimsayin?
And I love education, knowhatimsayin?
But if education aint elevatin me, then you knowhatimsayin
it aint Takin me where I need to go on some bullshit, then fuck education

Speak IS.

That reality is an opportunity for us to address that need ON OUR OWN. The black community, no I'll add to that, the poor have to quit asking a snake to turn into a puppy while the circumstances persist and desperation increases.

Mentoring is great but the downtrodden need life skills universities and exposure to the world of opportunities and strategies outside of their purview.

DV says that the gansta rap game is the answer? That "hoe" is just a metaphor for "math".

LOL

Rap is a hustle. a way out. these "artists" could care less about music or art. the corner and the booth are synonymous. they talk about the same shit at both locations.

the de la's and tribe's, cats w/diverse subject matter, sound, and life experiences have gone the way of the do-do bird BY CHOICE.

business models have way too much influence on music. all genres complain about that. From Hootie and Dave Matthews down to Prince, but none are controlled as much as rap. if one does not understand a culture it is easy to disrespect and misrepresent it. If bamabataa and KRS were the REAL gatekeepers you'd see authentic products. Russell talks alot about culture and yoga and shit but what i see is profit as the top priority. maybe he has the bob johnson POV, "i'm creating millionaires". but at what cost?

I would like to know what, if anything in this world, isn't influenced by "business models".

From Hootie and Dave Matthews down to Prince, but none are controlled as much as rap.

I don't know if this is true or not but, if it is, one must ask why? No need to control something you don't find threatening.

Anonymous said...

i think hootie and matthews issue is more about business models creating formulas and corp. not willing to bend here or there, not "getting it". creative control and exposure for new ideas vs. supporting a so called proven model. gatekeepers that are bean counters are bad news for any art. artist turned bean counter still has art in his blood but they are seeing less and less of that. more suits or power shifting to suits, less risk.

Anonymous said...

it makes sense because units are way down. singles are more important than albums.

"I don't know if this is true or not but, if it is, one must ask why? No need to control something you don't find threatening."

I've been telling you seems forever now. Hip Hop USED TO BE a threat. That's why they had to clamp down and control it. It's not a threat anymore, it is a tool of white supremacy, which DV incidentally, thinks doesn't exists.

Intellectual Insurgent said...

White supremacy certainly exists but, more often than not, primarily in the minds of non-White people.

Michael Fisher said...

II, let me ask you this:

Are you a white person?

J.C. said...

Does it matter ?

Is not the term 'white' just as misleading as th term as 'black'.

This paper is white, and the digital ink is black.

Is there such a thing as 'people of color ?
Or are there just people.

Michael Fisher said...

That would be telling.
