Fuck Al Sharpton! David Banner Fires Back At The Rap Haters

“The next time you see Al Sharpton, tell him I said fuck him and he can suck my dick. I might change the name of my album from The Greatest Story Never Told to Fuck Al Sharpton.

I hate Al Sharpton. This is the kind of Nigger that I’m talking about. They’re killing kids in New Jersey and all across the country and all a Bitch Nigga got to talk about is rap lyrics?

Fuck that about "they’re our elders and we gotta respect them." I’m tired of this. They’re like the parents, parents that are crucifying the kids."

Unfortunately Brotha David doesn't realize that Plantation Negros know they can't get on TV if they talk about War Profits For Blood, so they go after soft "Massa Friendly" causes like Rap Lyrics and Darfur.

one can consume themselves w/brother banners delivery but its hard to knock the message. I'm ok w/callin out black on black shuffling by so called leadership. Damm the lyrics and the censorship. Put appropriate material on media outlets at appropriate times. "Gettin Some..." by Shawna of DTP (not to pick on one artist) on hip-hop/r&b morning show rotation had to be one of the most blatant radio violations I've ever seen. Rated R and NC-17 material is unfit for radio and cable tv before a certain time of day. Period. Radio edits are now easily discernable bleeps so the "we edit" defense is weak. Suspension of decency to one consumer segment is blatant disrespect. European mind having negroes like Liles & Simmons have the nerve to sit on Oprah talkin about the N, B & H words and censorship. Change the access to adult material and repect, protect and love our children. I shouldn't be surprised but i can be dissappointed by profit b4 people.

Agreed with KP re: Banner's delivery. Unfortunately, his sound intent is going to be lost on account of his statement's packaging.

Banner is just trying protect his dammm! interest. He could care less what Sharpton is speaking against. Just as long as it ain't his pocket that may suffer. What has Banner sold anyway ?
Who cares!

i think Banner's delivery is part of his message. I've never heard/read him curse before in an interview/public statement.

I can't stand Sharpton. Ever since, when asked how could he profit from a predatory practice causing so much damage to the African American community, Sharpton replied "When Black people stop getting payday loans, i'll stop endorsing them." i've shared Banner's sentiment F**k Al Sharpton!

Casper,

you clearly know nothing about David Banner.

get hip:
"In November 2006, David Banner was awarded a Visionary Award by the National Black Caucus of the State Legislature in recognition of his work after Hurricane Katrina (see "David Banner Honored For Humanitarian Efforts In Mississippi"). This move was criticized by conservatives within the state, as well as some civil rights leaders, who Banner has accused of failing to adequately aid Mississippi."

seems like Banner's association with rap music and his units sold as an artist is enough to condemn him w/out knowing who he is. he is first and foremost a producer with many platinum + singles to his credit. TI's "rubber band man" is one of many.

Oh that David Banner who has had one single crack the US top 50 charts since his album career began in 2003. Well he can't be taken seriously because DV wouldn't put a rapper up with such rap cred if he hadn't sold some serious wax. Right DV... Remember how you dissed Master "P" because he spoke out against gansta rap lyrics. Talking about he hadn't sold anything recently...Now months later you throw up David Banner?

Please!

For the record I am not endorsing Sharpton either. I just find it funny... Pimps calling out hoes.

Is everyone else lost too?

let me slow down for you

Robyn,

Sometimes I struggle to follow Casper.

I think he is suggesting I am a hypocrit because I posted David Banner's comments regarding the disproportionate criticism of rap lyrics when in the past I minimized the significance of Master P's comments blaming rap because Master P had not sold records in years.

What Casper failed to understand then and fails to understand today was that I wasn't criticizing the comments. I was pointing out the disproportionate coverage of "Blame-Rap" rhetoric.

Have we heard anything from Master P since? Has he failed to speak over the past several months?

No.

Unless he has some "Massa Friendly" criticism a brotha can't get on TV.

Blaming Rap and Rappers for the pathology in Black America is "Massa Friendly".

Ergo, it is championed by "Massa Friendly" Plantation Negros.

My point is that DB is not better or worse than AS. DB calling out AS is no diiferent than the reverse. Each has one goal in mind$$$. There is nothing righteous concerning either. And yes I find it funny that David Banner of all rappers now has clout in your world even. As well when was the last time you heard from David Banner in the media until he bashes Sharpton. So what is the defference? There is none/zero!

Just your attempt to support Jimmy Iovine's bank accounts.

Casper,

I don't want to come off like I'm DB's brother or something but it seems like education is necessary. I don't own any of his albums either. but anyway...

as far as "the last time banner was in the media"...Banner did an entire media circuit after Katrina because the damage to the mississippi coast was totally forgotten. He made sure the world knew it was the Gulf coast that was affected, not just NO. His efforts were monumental and the media coverage of his cause was substantial. He did more than any gulf coast rapper, that i know of, in terms of using his voice to make sure his state received equal attention.

That's cool... Kanye told the world on National TV that GWB didn't care about black people. My point is many entertainers came out in support. The issue is about rap and certain lyrics. Now why would Mr. Banner be so opposed to kids hearing vulgar lyrics?... I suggest it's $$$. He is not a preacher or a teacher or a fireman he is a rapper himself. So his motivation is what?

$$$$$$$$$$

And if he was a doctor, would he be less motivated by $$$$$$$$$$$$$$?

Casper,

This may come as a shock to you. But there exists an aspect of this discourse that you fail to address.

If the Sharpton's and Oprah's and Casper's of this world wish to believe kids use bad language because of what they hear in the media - they have to look past hundreds of violators before they get to David Banner.

When is Al Sharpton going to go after Harvey Weinstein?

When is Oprah going to take Quinton Tarrintino to task for making movies where women get decapitated and blood gushes out of their gaping necks?

Sharpton can't affect Banner's money. No one who buys rap CD's gives a shit about Sharpton.

The objective is not to stop rap music sales. The objective is to plant the seed of blame in the minds of conformists like you who need a big black boogeyman to blame.

"And if he was a doctor, would he be less motivated by $$$$$$$$$$$$$$? "

If the issue was malpractice insurance rates increasing he would be against that as well.

"The objective is not to stop rap music sales. The objective is to plant the seed of blame in the minds of conformists like you who need a big black boogeyman to blame."

First I try not to go off topic. This is about DB and AS. They both are motivated by money. This isn't that complex of an issue. I don't agree with Sharpton becoming an opportunist nor Banner for fighting against responsibility in lyrics and it's glorification of the gansta way of life.

Very simple DV you support rappers who want to rap about hoes and guns. I don't.. very simple. In Jimmy Iovine's world you are a conformist because he and his corporation have convinced you to support his money maker gansta rap. You never question why all fiddy raps about is money. Or why snoop can only rap about hoes. Or why GAME only raps about capping somebody. So who is the conformist here. I challenged the bullshit!. Was Malcolm a confirmist when he challenged the system for pushing dope in his community DV???

You decide... You have to live with yourself.
