A big issue coming up for society is the so called transhumanism movement. That is the addition of added substances whether mechanical or bio chemical to the human being.
It is possible to dicker with the basic composition of humans now, and whether people like it or not this is a huge issue for many.

I am not so sure gentlemen. My position is that nature will only allow short term rewards for man's attempt to alter human genetics. The long term dis-advantages will be no different than nicotine's effects on the common folk only to create shorter life spans due to the introduction of un-natural chemicals to the human organs. I think unlike smoking which is cheap and on the decline that this current era of experimenting with growth hormones, etc. will and has in many cases reared it's ugly head. This trend I feel will not continue. And if I am wrong then Phuck those who would choose their long term health over $$$.

Hard to tell at this stage of the game what will happen, but I find your argument compelling. Our food is genetically modified, seeds that fall from fruit are incapable of reproduction and we are already replacing our body parts, yet the nominal increase in the length of our lives doesn't leave much to live for when the quality of life remains miserable.
