You Can Tell Much About People By What Makes Them Angry

Speak on it DV!!!

I'm so sick of this dog thing...admitedly if the brotha participated it is wrong...but damn - where is the daily public outrage for all of the men, women and children dying in Iraq on a second by second basis or for all of the thousands and thousands of people who were ABANDONED by the government for days following Hurricane Katrina.

The media is powerful force on the minds of people and fuel our passions on what we are indignant about on any given day...the 'public outrage' on this seems VERY extreme... and I don't even watch TV.

Do you think it's because people think they can do something about one and not the other?

I definitely think it is easier to demonize one individual than to take a long hard look at our flawed governmental system...

Your average person is just trying to pay their mortgage and chill on the weekends - not spark revolution...

Soteria,

You are off the hook sista. You, Kalena, Insurgent, Robyn, Jasai ... one of ya'll is going to have to take Oprah's spot.

The voice of the thinking, female non-conformist is conspicuously absent from pop culture.

That's a good point Dina. I think it's that, for most people, the war in Iraq is a distant concept. We are unaffected it by it on the daily. The dog fight hits people harder because Americans love their dogs.

I think that may be a part of it.

However, I think people tend to think ... what it is suggested to them ... others think.

They are intellectual sheep.

If the media bombards people with stories demonizing Michael Vick, or Barry Bonds, or Hip Hop while ignoring Skooter Libby, Richard Perle and AIPAC, the conformists will soon hate Vick, Bonds and Fiddy while remaining ambivalent to Perle, Libby and the Israel Lobby.

Thinking on your own takes courage.
