THOU SHALT NOT ... WHAT EXACTLY?

Jasai said...
However Jasai,

There are few things more intellectually dishonest than poking holes in religious scripture. One could just as easily illustrate the inconsistencies and hypocrisy of statutory law.

We should not disregard all sacred guidance because some of it doesn't apply.

I'm sure few would disagree with the Biblical warnings against incest.

Defenders of the Gay lobby would do well to acknowledge that many, perhaps billions, of people around the world feel homosexual sex is just as taboo as incest or pedophilia. Mankind has maintained these taboos since before the Great Flood.

Can people, and should people, be expected to completely abandon all innate sense of taboo after 20 years of lobbying?

i think the thing it could be best likened to is "house rules."

in your house these are your rules.

but don't try to make them "the rules"

If i decide to be christian i should ABSOLUTELY abide by ALL of the rules (and not pick and choose)

but because you don't eat meat, don't mean i shouldn't eat meat. and you damn sure shouldn't be passing laws so NO ONE can eat meat.

respect me.

i'll respect you.

champion your perspective.

but don't try to discount mine.

let the hearer decide.

Good retort, Jasai! Soteria, is somewhere drafting her reply.

she bettre quit re-mixing the bible though. they don't allow that.

(unless it suits their agenda.)

Anonymous said...

not at all...her retort sounds like something someone forwarded to me in an email about a year ago...

but anyway....I respect other people and I am working on my nonjudgement by the second.
I don't think I am better than anyone because of my beliefs, but if someone asks me I'm gonna tell them what I believe and not apologize for it.

At the end of the day...the only person who has to deal with the consequences of their actions is that individual, but as a society we are getting into a mode where it is forced acceptance or you are considered a bigot and THAT is not right. It works on both sides..

Jasai,
I better....be black, love God, and die...

sounds like someone could use a bit of temperance of the tongue...

well i guess you can remix if you want. i just thought it must be against some rule as it is the "word of god"

Just drawin at straws huh...Jasai?

So what? Then both are equally flawed and it should be a lesson not to take rules so damn seriously.

We should not disregard all sacred guidance because some of it doesn't apply.

Doesn't apply to what? Who gets to decide what applies and what doesn't?

Defenders of the Gay lobby would do well to acknowledge that many, perhaps billions, of people around the world feel homosexual sex is just as taboo as incest or pedophilia. Mankind has maintained these taboos since before the Great Flood.

Mankind has also accepted slavery since the beginning of time. Doesn't make it right. If millions, perhaps billions, of people feel that homosexual sex is wrong, then what are you worried about? That they might change their minds? If homosexuality is against god's law and against nature and all that then, if people change their minds and it becomes widespread, evolution will handle business.

You know Soteria. You are right. They actually do.

That's the thing about it.

That's what's scary.

That is also why they are being punished.

The truth is dangerous to your health.

II, II..... now that makes too much sense. and it doesn't give busybodies nearly enough to meddle with.

Those who accept slavery ... are slaves. In that case it is right.

"If millions, perhaps billions, of people feel that homosexual sex is wrong, then what are you worried about?"

I don't suggest they feel it is "wrong".

That's you, Jasai and the Lobby's projection.

#uck "wrong'. That has nothing to do with anything.

Wrong and Taboo are different.

Wrong and Unhealthy are different.

BOYCOTTING JAMAICA UNLESS THEY CHANGE THEIR LAWS AND THE LYRICS OF THEIR SONGS and WRONG ...

are 2 different things.

One of the tricks of the Lobby is to recreate the debate so they can play victim.

It is amazing how thoroughly they have been able to make others see any criticism of their MEDDLING, INTIMIDATING, and EXTORTING as evidence of their victimhood.

Intellectual Insurgent said...

Did I say wrong? I didn't. I just disagree with your use of the numbers game as support for your argument. Few things annoy me more than the "well, lots of people agree with me" argument. So f'ing what if the whole world agrees with you?

If homosexuality is wrong or taboo or whatever semantic gymnastics game we need to play to get on the same page, than it would be wrong/taboo/unclean (to you and for you) even if you were the only person who believed it to be wrong. Take ownership of your belief. Don't pass it off to a bunch of ancients or billions of others.

Denmark Vesey said...

Nah Insurgent,

I think you misunderstand my reference to billions of others.

I am establishing that it is not in the least bit abnormal to find the homosexual act, in and of itself - revolting.

Consequently labeling a Nation like Jamaica as "The Most Homophobic Place On Earth" - is hyperbolic bullshit.

See the difference?

I think if everyone took a truth serum before a poll we would find that many more people are talking out of their asses in an effort to fall in with the masses.

Cause saying it disgusts you during the day and then digging around in it at night don't really put you on the disgusted team.

Entire churches would have to switch sides if required to tell the whole truth

I'm listening Skip.

Let me know when you get to the part that says "Two grown, hairy ass men screwing each other in the ass, is NOT NASTY".

Since I'm a bigot and all ...

Please explain that part to me.

(Apologists for the gay lobby hate when you actually address the reality of homosexuality vs. the marketing of homosexuality .... oops... I mean the marketing of the "gay lifestyle")

I think Homosexuals are entitled to every civil and human right as everyone else.

Just don't try to force-feed legislation, boycott small Caribbean nations and impose social penalties to intimidate people into pretending the homosexual act is normal and healthy.

It is aberrant and unhealthy.

Acknowledment of that obvious truth means one will be tagged a Homophobe the same way one is tagged an anti-Semite when he points out that Yiddish speaking people from Poland couldn't possibly be "Semites" in the first place.

I really don't give a fuck who fucks who, as long as they don't fuck me or like they did Isiah.

But Jasai's stuff is pure poetry.

Either the Bible is the word of God or it isn't. If it is, no mere mortal is qualified to remix the good book.

Who is remixing?

I don't agree with the lifestyle...so am I a bigot?

no soteria you don't have to do anything... except of course, be black, love god and die.

I get confused and irritated in these types of threads because each side is imposing rules on the other. Who said you have to take the Bible is unaltered literal truth to be a good Christian?

Why can't it be viewed as a book of great wisdom from ancient times, symbolic of mans relationship with God?

So many people around the globe have relgious icons and sacred teachings, this is for a reason. The reason is that man is a spiritual being who constantly seeks and probes his spiritual roots. Religion is a manifestation of this aspect of mankind.

I don't think you have too take the Bible as unaltered literal truth mainly because it has been altered into our language and much of the book is symbolic and prophetic.

However, the parts that are clear, are VERY VERY clear. And it's clear on the subject of homosexuality.

It's a sin. I don't have to quote the Mosaic law, I could quote Romans or Colossians. Most folks fail to admit that the Mosaic law is divided into three separate parts and the Bible is clear about which parts Christians should be abiding by. Early apostles made a point telling Gentiles that they were not bound by the portions of the law that dealt with civil or worship rules. They did however encourage them to keep the moral code of the law.

The civil and worship portions of the law were relevant for Jews at the time because Israel was an autonomous nation at certain points and because Jesus had not yet come to the Earth. They are no longer relevant.

However, I often wonder why DV always discussed the problem with two men screwing each other, but never talks about how "nasty" it is for two women to engage in the same act.

Mahndisa S. Rigmaiden said...

Yes Big Man, I am very aware of the Biblical teachings on homosexuality and thank you for your comment. A lot of men seem to be turned on by the thought of two women screwing around, but don't seem as pleased when discussing men. I don't know about DV's angle, but I've heard macho men talk about how nasty gayness is,but like lesbianism.

In any event, I believe in the ten commandments and other things, but certainly cannot take the Bible as literal at all.
