Oprah on "Good White Folks"

Oprah - I've Got "Good White Folks"
Oprah Winfrey wishes her beloved grandma was still around -- to see the "good white folks" that are under her domain.

The media queen told a group of graduates at the Howard University commencement Saturday that her grandmother's wish was that Oprah would someday work for some "good white folks." How the tables have turned, said Oprah, now that those "good white folks" are working for her. Oprah's grandma worked as a servant in Mississippi in the 1950s, and the younger Winfrey has often invoked her as an inspiration and a guiding force in her life.

I don't know. Maybe it's just me. But Oprah is starting to get on my nerves. She needs a man in her life. She don't know what to say.

err...i really dont know what to say about Oprah's comment because I wasn't there and I would not want to talk about something out of context..

But I do agree Oprah is sometimes so aggravating. I love her drive and the fact that she has accomplished so much. She seems like a sincere person who is doing what she thinks is right but her actions/viewpoints just annoy me. I love that she gave money to open a school in Africa for girls. I dislike the fact that she had to badmouth Black American youth in the process instead of trying to be a force to thwart behavior she opposes.

I think that with any Black person who "made it" staying authentic (here I mean true to helping Black people) is difficult but it SEEMS like Oprah throws money/goods and hugs at problems. I dunno of this makes any sense....I'm still stuck in an idealistic place where I'm waiting on the Talented 10th (or whatever) to rescue the masses.....

as a young black woman I definitely have a love-hate relationship with the "Oprah".....and I still think she is with Steadman...they will never marry (personal feeling)

LOL. I feel you Kalena.

I got to give the sista credit though. She does understand media and pandering to emotionally needy consumers.

Honestly,

I'd like to see some young sistas like you or Jasai or Robyn or Patrice with a talk show.

This 50+, Tom Cruise crush having, black man hating paradigm is getting old.

ok, so it's almost quitting time.

Yeah, but if we had a show, who would our sponsors be? Let me guess, Fiddy? If he'd do that, i'd forgive him for all his transgressions against us LOL
